It will be so scary when that earthquake actually strike in Japan… This anime makes me feel the fear. Luckily we do not have such dangers in the Netherlands. Our only natural enemy could be the water :P
July 24th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
loving this earthquake series

You don’t have to be living near a fault line to be endangered by its effects, we’re all just living on an onion skin floating on molten rock.
I didn’t think they would be able to make a series out of this, maybe an anime movie, but so far they are really pulling it off.

Quite good. A series that can keep me on the edge of my seat has my respect.
July 24th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
Btw.: Does anyone know how big Odaiba is (square kilometres or square metres)?
July 24th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
How long has it been since i’ve felt any sort of tension or suspense while watching anime or television in general? Can’t remember the last time. This always has me on the edge of my seat. What a great series.
Summer 09 has been amazing.
July 24th, 2009 at 8:08 pm

The *episode content warning* initial toll of just 860+dead was incredibly low I thought, but I guess if you think of the 1989 Loma Prieta/San Fransico Bay 7.0 magnitude earthquake only killing 70 or so people, maybe that number seems realistic. The 2008 Great Sichuan Earthquake (8.0 magnitude) killed over 60,000 people in China on the extreme flip side. Maybe building construction really does play a huge role in casualty numbers. Obviously more people died in this episode with the aftershocks but the numbers are still relatively low.

According to my Tokyo Guide, Odaiba is 230 000 m². The Rainbow Bridge that leads there (and that we see in the anime) is 570m long.
Intersted in a visit in Odaiba ?

Sorry wrote sthg stupid. 230000m² is of course not the right answer.
July 26th, 2009 at 3:55 am
The correct answer is 450 hectares. Gosh i’m tired ! I mishmash everything.
