Summer Wars

Info

Summary: When timid eleventh-grader and math genius Kenji Koiso is asked by older student and secret crush Natsuki to come with her to her family’s Nagano home for a summer job, he agrees without hesitation. Natsuki’s family, the Jinnouchi clan, dates back to the Muromachi era, and they’ve all come together to celebrate the 90th birthday of the spunky matriarch of the family, Sakae. That’s when Kenji discovers his “summer job” is to pretend to be Natsuki’s fiancé and dance with her at the birthday celebration. As Kenji attempts to keep up with Natsuki’s act around her family, he receives a strange math problem on his cell phone which, being a math genius, he can’t resist solving. As it turns out, the solution to the mysterious equation causes a bizarre parallel world to collide with Earth, and it’s up to Kenji and his new fake family to put reality back in order.

Well Bubbles, at this time I don’t have extra monies to buy a new computer since I won’t upgrade my machine. Old machines can view MKVs just fine. In fact I converted some of the releases here into 400p MKVs like Trapeze and the last two Basquash episodes and posted it in megaupload.

“It’s summer and Kenji, who works as a computer technician for the virtual world of Oz (imagine facebook a handful of decades in the future), is invited by the most popular girl at his high school to her expansive family’s home. In the middle of their vacation, a hacker infiltrates the network and takes control of Oz, plunging humanity into absolute chaos. Hosoda Mamoru continues where Miyazaki Hayao leaves off in this film loaded with action and emotion that combines beautiful tradition and humor with one of the season’s most imaginative creations: the luminous world of Oz. Virtual rabbit-like heroes take on monstrous shadows in this indisputable summit of anime.”

114mins according to anidb.

Anime
Summer Wars V2 coming soon

by Craig on Nov.25, 2009, under Anime

Due to errors with the original DVD audio, etc., and minor timing errors due to those audio errors,

V2 is coming soon. I am currently in the process of re-syncing the audio.

V2 will be a version which is essentially a finished product until the release of the Bluray raws for Summer Wars.

The raw that was available for Summer Wars is very marginal. Should a better raw become available the project will be done sooner.

Update: I am almost done encoding V2 with the correct audio sync. I am re-timing the subs to match the audio.

Arashi Says:

The Golden Phoenix Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 5:42 pm

Stix you are right.
I’m downloading it right now and with my max speed it’s up to 3.5 MB/s and it’s estimated to take about 7-8 minutes.

NaweG Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Stix – does the one you mentioned have the same timing and other issues, or does it seem to be just fine other than the hard subs?

Solfern Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 5:59 pm

@Stix i dont know how in you country but in movie i see subs but they are not mutch of english, more like korean

Lamz0r Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 6:05 pm

giascle Says:

Stix Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 6:53 pm

speed is awesome and no timing problems

@Solfern

correct my bad, i just downloaded subs this THIS release and 1.36 version in same folder so subs automatically loaded

this release http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=download&tid=90760 has no problems in sound timing or the eng subs, everything is good just size is 1.36 GB that’s all

Titens Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 8:08 pm

I’ve been expecting this movie for some time now. It’s made by the guys who did Toki wo kakeru shoujo.

Stix Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 9:02 pm

@Tiggerz at least it’s better than waiting for fake torrent to finish downloading.. and the bigger size the better quality/sound
and you rarely see korean subs sticking out, eng subs cover them up fully

Lamz0r Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 9:11 pm

I’m a sub retard so stop me if I’m spilling some crap, but is it possible to get the Korean subs to not show in the avi version?

CrapFace Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 9:33 pm

i don’t think so lamz0r, unless the subs were downloaded seperately from the avi file

commentator Says:
November 25th, 2009 at 9:44 pm

Here’s the 1.37GB version with Korean subs. The English subs from this torrent work fine with it.

719x Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:28 am

I want to thank you guys for downloading my stuff :)

Our ‘group’ right now consists of just me and I had to resync the audio and edit the timings on the subtitles file plus make minor adjustments.

The subtitles that come with this version and the audio in the raw have been resynced from the original raw which was posted in this thread.

The raw itself is off after 30:44, which was one of the things I fixed.

We will be resubbing this once the Bluray DVD comes out. I hope you enjoy this version for now (if not, you can wait another 6 months or so until the Bluray release)

Thanks! -719x, 719x Fansubs, #719x@rizon.net

RenMidori Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:31 am

719x dude do you think u can make Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari subs ? Coz ther’s like 3 episodes in raw and no subs… And its like the best series of the year :P ep 7-9 are still in raw for like a month already :/

b29g_debo Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:32 am

thanks 719 and good luck in your future endeavors

Lamz0r Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:33 am

@RenMidori: download subs from v1 and that 1.36 gigs avi, works perfectly together.
Don’t try to combine v2 subs and avi, the subs are a bit ahead.
v1 subs: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BLVMET9X
v2 subs: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IPJ833RM
And v2 is a 744mb file, won’t it be more of an eyecancer than v1?
Just because I’m in a very good mood after watching this… very, erm, surrealistic, but great movie.

And the synopsis by dorry123 is far more accurate than the one sticked near downloads

colormeKEVO Says:

719x Says:

RenMidori Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:36 am

hehe well if i would know any ppl i would already translated it my self :P But did you watch it already ? I mean the 1-6 ep ? Its awsome isnt it xD

NaweG Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:51 am

For those who are curious, v2 does fix the timing issue, but it’s still an English sub over a Korean one. Of course, that’s probably the best you can expect if you want to watch it anytime in the next few months.

Stix Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:55 am

@RenMidori

dumbass i said to use subs from v1 release

RenMidori Says:

where can i get eng subs ?

Tiggerz Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 2:14 am

so once that’s done, the v2 with the subs will be put back up -_____-” …

reggiedc Says:

Ergoproxy Says:

-I put both the V2 video file and the .ass subtitle file in a folder(Directory) like stated above

-I play the .ass file through MPC, Zoomplayer and Windows media player and the subs just don’t show up. Same goes if I play the V2 video file, the video works but no subs.

-I think I have to download an application to join them up.

719x Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:28 am

The raw itself is off after 30:44…

so yeah, v2 the subs will still be a little off, can’t be helped…
the audio and video are fine though…

@ErgoProxy
i honestly don’t know what you’re doing wrong, since it should work either straight from the torrent
or if u have the unmuxed v2 and .ass file, you shouldn’t have to rename anything…

alternative, you can just get the DDL’s since the subs are muxed in :) …

Ergoproxy Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 4:59 am

oh wait, the file I download is a v1 so what now eh?

tosh9i Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 5:00 am

@Ergoproxy, you can use MKVmerge to combine the subs with the video. I’m trying it right now with a delay on the subs of 2800ms. Hopefully, that will put it back on track.

hientheboss Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 5:00 am

Why do you make every thing so complicated, the timing was lagged between the screen and sound and it was not subbed. So i decided to deleted it after all. It’s really suck

madmaxx350 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 5:23 am

Great movie … I truly enjoyed it , can’t wait for the blu-ray release :)

tosh9i Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 5:23 am

If you know how to use Mkvmerge, then you can combine the video and subtitles and delay the subtitles for 1900ms, but do this after watching the first 30 minutes of it.

Teaparty Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 5:31 am

YES! I’ve been waiting for this for ages!

Thor74 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 6:26 am

This like getting an amazing sports car for your birthday and it running out of gas at your street corner as you leave.

subbing anime take hard work< and the initial effort is always appreciated, but why release 2 similar peices of crap?

nokou Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 6:35 am

Yaee… v2, downloading now. Thank you

dorry123 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 7:11 am

Thor74, if you don’t like it don’t comment. You obviously can’t appreciate the effort it takes to TL/TIME/EDIT/TS/K-TIME/STYLE/KARAOKE/TLC/QC/ENCODE

and when you have less people doing more things, there are bound to be mistakes, but releasing better versions as made is a nice extra bonus.

If you believe they are both crap, delete them and never watch them again. I’m sure the rest of us will enjoy watching the v2 as apposed to the v1.

crinklypaper Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 8:43 am

The subs work if you put them in VLC player and set the delay of the subs to -1200 MS (thats right negative 1200) and then the subs will be timed correctly after 30 minutes into the movie. They look horrible because VLC sucks, but it seems to work. Was a great movie, thanks for taking the time to sub this!

Jagax Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 8:51 am

Man, what a waste of bandwidth. GReat movie ? Yeah if you think Dumb-dumber was a deep movie that should’ve had subtexts so you could really follow the dialogue.
Yes I do appreciate the work of the people behind this but v1 at least was total crap, so out of sync that it made an already annoying movie just about impossible to watch.

Ergoproxy Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 9:18 am

I just opened 2 media players, played the video on both files, then I just played around with the sound on one media player and tryed to sync it with the other. I managed to do after a few minutes and wala! It worked well :P

Ergoproxy Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 9:19 am

Just wanted to add, the film was very original and I too loved the film :)

719x Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 9:35 am

Sorry about any errors you guys may have had with the subs.

The raw and .ass were fine by themselves but when you put them together I encountered numerous errors which is the reason I created v2.

v1 was total crap but I hadn’t watched the encode myself so I didn’t know about the sync errors.

I also edited the timing on this one in notepad to speed up the release process.

Any future subs including the BD/DVD version of this will be manually subbed in SubStation Alpha and time will be taken to make them look properly.

However, this was really a ’speed’ release. So everyone who helped make it work correctly, thank you.

The group as it is consists of one person (other than the anon who donated his script), which is me, I did the encoding, QC, timing, etc.

So if it sucks, blame me. I’m only one guy.

RenMidori Says:

ac195 Says:

Wej Says:

This gets really hard to watch when the sound and subs get off. All I know, is this is kinda turning into the latest Die Hard movie… I liked it, so I am happy.

dorry123 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:11 pm

I just made a quick change to the script to roughly fix the timing error and make it at least watchable.

I’ll upload it shortly for everyone to use.

dorry123 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:20 pm

Try this guys.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HCKFZNLQ

I take no credits for the script, I merely shifted the timings of every line after ~31mins by -1200ms.

That should help you all out.

Instructions:
Download the movie, open it up in MPC, download my version of the script (v3), drag the script onto the MPC window and wait till it says loaded. Voila!

(I’m using MPC-HC if u need a specific client spec to work with my instructions.)

I will not post instructions on how to load subtitles in other clients, get a proper non-fail client i.e. MPC-HC.

Thor74 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 1:46 pm

dorry123, just check yourself little squirt. I said the work is appreciated. I did delete it… TWICE. And yes, I DO KNOW about the hard work that people go through on subbing anime so kiss my soon to be Thanksgiving bloated a$$.

719x, as I said before, thanks for the effort. Seriously. Being a one man show team is a lot of work.

But I’ll call a spade a spade regardless. This was a 2nd frustrating download regardless of the much appreciated work that went into it.

To everyone else & including 719x, Happy Thanksgiving.

Wej Says:

ac195 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 2:07 pm

Thanks for the re-timing dorry123.

You can also just rename the .ass file with the same name as the movie file, put them in the same folder and it work too.

Ex)
[719x] Summer Wars v2 [HQ].mkv
[719x] Summer Wars v2 [HQ].ass

dorry123 Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 2:42 pm

yes ac195, that should work, but when you already have a soft subbed set of subtitles, it can cause weird and not so wonderful things to happen, depending completely on how your pc and media playing client is setup and which filters you are using in what ever whack array of settings.

Use MPC and drop the sub into the window and it will definitely work. xD

If it wasn’t such a major waste of time, I would properly sync the subs to the video, and fix the numerous grammar/timing issues I saw also … but it’s only slightly below the speed sub level of quality we expect, as it is now.

Thanks for your hardwork 917x.

At least now you will have a few months to make a high quality script to match the blu-ray. I don’t expect much, if any of the dialogue to change. xD

As for 719x – Thank heaps I m glad that you took the time to put this together. With the limited man power and the hard subbed raw, I think the job was well done.
If others want to complain they they can try their hand at subbing it from scratch :P or not watch it.

I for one am glad you took your time to bring us this. Can’t wait to see the Blu-ray.

And are you using the v2 encode?

Commander Bubble Says:
November 26th, 2009 at 3:42 pm

for V1 script, if anyone is still using it other than me; with vlc, go to tools, track synchronization, under the synchronization tab, change the values of “advance of audio over video” to (approx, i found this value to work the best for me) -3.25 and also the “advance of subtitles over video” to -3.25 to line up the audio, video and subtitles after ~31 minutes. hope this helps some people. it’s a pity that’s it’s like this, cause it’s actually a kinda cool movie :

yamisniper Says:
November 27th, 2009 at 2:49 pm

colormeKEVO Says:
November 27th, 2009 at 5:02 pm

I synced the subs and audio up by extracting the audio from the raw.I cut the video in half at around 31 minutes on a still frame.Made .05 seconds of that still frame and merged everything together.I didnt have much to do yesterday..lol

miroku2192 Says:
November 27th, 2009 at 5:02 pm

So this version is still messed up?

*sigh*

How’s the video + audio quality though? I might just wait for the blu ray release…

dorry123 Says:
November 27th, 2009 at 5:10 pm

miro, it is watchable and quite enjoyable

IF

you use the v2 video + v3script I posted.

Otherwise:
v1 video – desynced audio after 31mins

v2 video – (watchable )slight audio desync after 31mins (not really major)

v1 script – not watchable

v2 script – miss-timed after 31mins

v3script – (watchable) first 30mins are timed reasonably well, after 31mins subs are slightly too early

There will be a better raw (blu-ray) that does not have korean hardsubs on it in a few months.

PS does this remind anyone of the digimon movie?

dorry123 Says:
November 29th, 2009 at 2:59 pm

It was a good movie, and from what I gather is the first time that 719x has released something, it wasn’t too bad.

2/10 on the fansubbing side

but the movie was a definite 9/10.

@SILVEI2: I have never yet come across something I can’t play with CCCP installed.

Having shit like K-Lite is like using a dodgy bit of flint to start a fire to cook dinner, instead of using an oven like the rest of us would. If CCCP didn’t work for you, it means:
A. You didn’t install/use it correctly
B. You didn’t install/use it correctly

Not trying disrespect you, but CCCP is the only set of codecs you should need, and combine it with MPC-HC, nothing should be unplayable. xD

Maaan, I’ve finished it just now, and blame myself for not watching it earlier. It’s so good. Maybe it’s not as good as Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo, but still it leaves a pleasant feeling after watching it. And the soundtrack is a must.

Characters are pretty realistic (well, not OZ avatars =D). Tired of those stupid Naruto, Bleach, TTGL movies.

I have a state exam next wednesday and that movie cheered me up :3
