Why do you all hate kohrabi so much? I just watched the episode and it’s fine it actually makes alot more sense than AonE’s such as in AonE they call mihoshi a senior while in this latest one they called mihoshi a junior which actually makes more sense since she is only 1 year older..

@different: To people in their first year of high school, a junior is both a junior, but also the freshman’s senior.

@different Turak is correct. You are confusing Japanese high school with American high school. You are assuming senior means “senior year high school student” when the word being translated is “senpai” which is a title to show respect to those who are older (or senior) to you. I’m not even sure if they use the terms: “freshman, junior, and senior” in Japan. I’ve always heard it called 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year.

From what I remember sempai/senpai is used for persons of higher classes an not related to the age. However, from what I remember it can also be used at work for persons who have been working there longer than yourself.

Forgot to mention:
That is actually the reason why I think keeping the suffixes even in the subs is the best thing to do as you normally can’t directly translate them to any English word without loosing some part of its meaning.

Okay… I see what they did now that I watched it… It wasn’t senpai as I assumed. They used “freshman” and “junior” in places where I think most subbers would have used the 1st/2nd year designations or even upper/underclassman in some cases.

Hmm, is the karaoke in the opening screwed up? The words at the end of the lines aren’t highlighted. I don’t know if it’s me, just asking xD.

So I guess I ought to ask this again. What is it exactly that makes Koharubi’s subs inferior to AnimeOne’s? I have a strong feeling that it’s not so much a problem with the subs as it is a problem with Koharubi not carrying the AnimeOne name.

If anybody has a legitimate reason to dislike our subs, could you please tell us how to make them better? Saying we’re “qaurity” doesn’t help anyone, except maybe the person saying it’s e-penis.

It’s not just you. The kara’s like that. (I’m not sure if it was like that on the other releases, but I’d imagine so.)

I was aware of the differences and I know what a senpai/sempai is. I’m not dissing aone subs since I saw episodes 1-6 with them. But the translation was worded “that senior” should be “that upperclassman” if it was meant that way or that 2nd year. But they never said senpai and if I got it mixed up with american highschools I would have called her a sophmore.

oh and aone used freashmen/senior btw while koharubi used freashman/junior

That just took the number one spot in my hilarious mis-translations list. You should feel honored. The previous first place was a guy on youtube who swore that “yume yume suki desho” at the end of Hare Hare Yukai was how you say “SOS Brigade” in Japanese. ROFL.

QT is installed tho, so I’m watching that way and then copying onto a flash drive for when I get home next week (and have all the programs to run everything). #1 “senpai” is used to refer to a “mentor” of sorts, you use it to show respect (can also be sued for sarcastic purposes) to a student/apprentice/disciple that is either older than you or more experienced

#2 Japanese high school lasts THREE years not FOUR years like American high school; they have no such thing as a “sophomore”

#3 I’d rather watch aone, they have a reputation for quality that has never been tarnished

I have a ? I am new and all that but how do I make the subs to appear. The other show that I download I didn’t have a problem. I even try to convert the video to see if it appears can someone help me out with this.
