Donnie, have you actually watched Koharubi’s Sora no Manimani releases and made an objective comparison with AOne’s? Really doubt it but you make a point of saying you’ll wait for AOne’s for episode 9 as well. I take it you’re a member of AOne? :D

Donnie Says:
September 20th, 2009 at 11:00 pm

No I’m not a member of the [AonE]. However yes I’ve watched previous releases from [Koharubi] on this show and others (Hatsukoi Limited comes in mind) and I made an “objective” comparison on both. [Koharubi] while not totally shitty are way inferior to [AonE] or other quality sub groups on shows they speedsubbed. The latter group has a strong reputation for being a better sub group. You’ll notice the numerous v2 of episodes [Koharubi] has released, I believe that tells a lot…

Evolt Says:

Can you provide some examples in terms of translations, grammar, video quality, etc. that you’re referring to where AOne is better, Donnie? All I see is are general unsubstantiated statements. And by numerous V2, you really mean just a couple, don’t you?
I don’t believe Koharubi is a speedsub group but even if they are, it doesn’t imply quality and speed cannot go hand-in-hand.

Flash Gordon Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 12:19 am

We tried to be a speedsub group in the beginning (i.e. starting with Hatsukoi), but that didn’t work out so well. XD

Flash I do appreciate you guys subbing this.Even though its not one of my fav shows,I do watch it ^_^

Donnie Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 1:17 am

Look, I won’t even bother to show you frame by frame video clips analyzing encoding, timing and subbing quality from both groups to make a “scientific” comparison. That’s just stupid and unnecessary. You believe [Koharubi] is better? Fine by me, stick to them. Also I don’t understand your valorous defend of a subgroup. I merely stated the obvious, you could have just ignored it. Ask people around here which sub group they prefer over the other. And yes [Koharubi] are considered a speedsub group. I partially agree that quality and speed can be achieved at the same time but I also believe that that particularly sub group is NOT the best representative of that category.

Torment Says:

Nice, been waiting for this.. thanks.

Flash Gordon Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 1:42 am

Yeah, sorry for the delay. Our translators are busier individuals than most people assume.

Evolt Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 1:56 am

Donnie, I don’t believe I said 1 group is better than the other. Or that I prefer 1 over the other. I call you to question since you obviously post to try and promote AOne. Obviously you know AOne had not release either ep 9 or 10 but intentionally posted on both releases to say basically the same thing.

Suspicious, no? Either you are an AOne member or a dedicated fanboy. No one else would bother to do so knowing they won’t watch a particular group’s releases.

Also, by your answer, I’m willing to bet if the group’s names would to be remove, you’d have an impossible time to differentiate any differences in overall quality.

Flash Gordon Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 2:26 am

Donnie’s latest comment is a textbook example of a copout.

Oops, I’m s’posed to be ignoring him.

This is why I like this site so much. You can actually hear from the subbers them selves from time to time.Watched the episode and only saw a couple of minor mistakes. If it was done poorly it fooled me ^_^

@ Evolt

AOne is better. Period. I appreciate you and Flash defending your sub group [Koharubi], but unless there are a ton of n00b visitors here your request to explain how AOne is better is just dumb. Like several regulars on this site I’ve been watching their subs for many years now and they have almost always been very good. Consistent and methodical quality outperforms a decent speed sub any day of the week.

Me personally, I’m not calling [Koharubi] terrible or bad, just not as good as AOne. I don’t need to prove it to you since I know I’m right.

But that also doesn’t diminish the fact that we anime lovers appreciate all groups that work hard fan subbing anime, including your [Koharubi] group. Sincere and honest thanks from us anime fans. But Donnie was right, you were wrong. It really is that simple.

Booyadude Says:

kirarevolt Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 1:17 pm

korahubi are good but aone are better and I am and everyone else should be grateful for korahubi fansubs, they done a great job, to watch and even archive it is good enough but if we compare aone into equation for archive it is better to have them. aone is better for now but korahubi could become better with a few weeks, months, years or never so lets leave it at that. for this series use aone

Donnie Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Wow, is this still thing going on?
Anyway to sum it up, I never wanted to insult [Koharubi] or any of it’s members/fans here or anywhere else for that matter.
What I said is that [AonE] is better than [Koharubi] (according to me and good number of people) since “they’ve been on the trade” for a much longer period of time therefore it’s completely logical to have better experience in the field of fansubbing. Their releases even prove that point for that matter.
As kirarevolt said, they could, and probably will, become better after a certain amount of experience, that it’s up to them and time.
If people want to see their subbed releases I certainly have to problem, nor I want to persuade those to wait/switch to [AonE]. Fansubbing is serious business indeed.

Booyadude Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Yes, it’s still going on, and it’s going to continue until somebody actually provides some evidence to backup what they are saying.

Until then feel free to continue providing me lulz with your baseless arguments.

Fansub groups don’t have some kind of hivemind. They are made up of their members, and different members leave or join continuously, thus making the level of experience, and quality, vary continuously.

Max_Otaku Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 4:39 pm

LOL “I don’t need to prove it to since I know I’m right” Man what a great fascist attitude.
Without proof it is nothing more than an opinion, like assholes everyone has one and they’re usually full of shit.
Most of us who don’t know the language, have watched enough anime to get what is being said a lot of the time, we don’t need the i’s dotted and the t’s crossed to get the gist of the dialog. “Quality Subs” is all good and fine but if it takes so long to produce that everyone has moved on to something else then there is no point. Speed is as much a sign of talent as linguistic legerdemain.

Flash Gordon Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 6:53 pm

I honestly don’t mind if some of you prefer AOne over us, but for future reference, please send somebody who isn’t 12 years old and/or won’t pull arguments out of his ass then cop out when he’s caught not knowing what he himself is on about.

:)

rintaun Says:
September 21st, 2009 at 8:55 pm

Donnie, and perhaps others: the statement that “AonE is better because they have been around longer” is in fact not completely logical. The fact that they have been around longer is irrelevant to their current status. Yes, it is logical that having been around longer, they would have more experience and through that experience have the ability to produce a higher quality sub. This assumes several things, the most important of which is that the members of AonE are static. This is, however, not the case. It is an unfortunate fact of fansubbing that members come and go — often good members. Take a look at AonE’s current staff list and compare it with their old one and you will find that it is not entirely the same.

There have been very few real arguments made against Koharubi or for AonE. If you had cited, even once, anything from a real release, or compared anything that the two groups had done — ever! — then I would be much more inclined to take you seriously. The one argument that I have heard is that Koharubi is a speedsub group, thus AonE must be better. Well, I’m not sure how you define speedsub groups, but in my experience, speedsubs are accentuated by low quality, fast releases, generally within 24 hours of the original air date. There are two problems with saying that Koharubi is low quality because it is a speedsub group. The first of these is the (hopefully) obvious circular logic: Koharubi is low quality because it is a speedsub group, but low quality is a primary characteristic of what generally defines a speedsub group. The second is that while I’m honored that you think Koharubi is fast, it’s really just not the case. Faster than the AonE, sure, but does one group being faster than another imply lower quality? As far as I am aware, it does not.

In short, your arguments have been nonexistant or fallacious thus far — and saying “it’s completely logical that …”, unfortunately, does not make it logical. If you’d like to discuss this like logical human beings, go right ahead and step up to the plate.

Wow!After reading this page I am inclined to agree.Fansubbing is serious business..lol..I thank anybody who can get me a subbed anime in a timely fashion that is of decent quality. If I really like the show,I always come back and pick up what I think is the best copy later to archive.Like Max_Otaku said,I appreciate anyone that takes the time to sub this stuff for us.
