no clue why people want Megaupload :S … I get max 50kb/sec from such sites, but I get 2-3mb/sec from torrents :S …

Dunno. Probably because MegaUpload is in the US and im in Denmark, but 1.5 is still slow compared to the 3 I get from torrents. But who care’s was just something that came to mind when I read Jamien’s comment :P …

@Newk Lol, Im in norway and I download at 1,5 Mb sec. . . It’s all about your network connection. MU is one of THE best DD Sites around now. You network must be bad if your downloading at 50 kb/sec. and the reason torrent goes fast on you, is that you download from many other people at the same time, which results in “high speed” Which is actually MANY low speed connections cramed into 1 Download reader. . For people with bad nett P2P is best, For those with good nett DD is (for some people) better.

and i think torrents are evil beyond measure and will not use them after getting a cad letter from downloading phantom Requiem of the phantom

Cuz Jdownloader/(insert what download manager you use) is cool enough to make DDL actually viable.

depends where you dl from as well. mu has been quite slow lately,at least for me while fileserve fast as usual

@Lexarox, it might be faster than 50kb/sec, guess I was just over exaggerating. I’ve never experienced the rest you described with the “bad” and “good” network.

The only thing that would play in is your router.

If you have good speed with torrent, that means you router is able to have ALLOT of concurrent connection’s, since as you said, most of the connections are slow (or you download from a private tracker).

But if DDL is faster that would probably mean your router is not able to have so many concurrent connections, making torrent a bad choice and thus DDL a good choice (DDL=Not many concurrent connections required)

But at least for me, I don’t feel like paying for premium for MU when torrent is just as fast or faster (can vary of-course, but thats my experience so far)
Also, when I use torrent I get a 45sec head start to catch up to speed, if you know what i mean ;) …

My potential speed is 60mbit/60mbit, so a premium MU account might make that potential a reality, but I guess i’m just not that impatient.

With all this, I guess I just answered my own question why people don’t choose torrent: slow routers, or that they want their files SUPER DUPER FAST, (like I maybe could if I had premium, and too much money to spend ).

@eskimo bill: “torrents are evil beyond measure.” Please elaborate, never had any problems with torrents, only when downloading from “fishy” sources.

I don’t see how a c&d would lead you to believe torrenting is evil lol. If you download something licensed or you are torrenting too much obviously its possible for you to get a c&d.

but compared to other top animes

if you have problems with your router and too many concurrent connections you “may” be able to fix it by turning off DDOS protection. When using a torrent and if your torrent client is configured to accept too many connections then its similar to getting DDOS’d. However the real problem could be with your OS TCP/IP stack. WinXP used to default to a low max allowed connections. Grab (google “DRTCP”) to fix that if you think you’re having that problem. Torrents are cool and can’t hate anything that was originally coded in Python. That said DDL FTW.

its or can get complicated. im tweaking the fudge out of my modem to be able to go on the net and torrent at the same time. its better to buy a bit more expensive,tried and tested with torrents modem + router(ddwrt?) then cheaping out
