I love recap episodes like this, the show is getting off to a slow start, but I think its going to take off like crazy soon. Endings like this leave way too much suspense, now I really can’t wait for next week’s episode!!

October 22nd, 2011 at 11:22 am
Where’d this 480p release come from? It’s not posted on Commie’s site. Should I assume it’s also 8-bit because of the low resolution?
October 22nd, 2011 at 11:40 am
Most tv rip 480p are Xvid format. No way it is 10bit
October 22nd, 2011 at 11:49 am
@Someone Else, 480p is resolution and 10bit is amount of colour they are unrelated so it can be 10bit and 480p at same time

October 22nd, 2011 at 10:27 pm
seriously recap episode already!!
October 22nd, 2011 at 11:28 pm
Episodes 1-3 is supposed to bring light to who yuji has become. It wasn’t an episode solely on recapping. The episode showed what his intentions are, why he left, and why he came back. Pay attention more as J.C is going by the L.N. And episode 4 is where it all begins.
October 22nd, 2011 at 11:42 pm
SS-Eclipse out :D
October 22nd, 2011 at 11:56 pm
omg I was seriously hoping that SS-Eclipse wouldve been the one subbing Shakugan no Shana III, and they are now! :D no competition there LOL, as much as I love Commie.
I bet after they finish subbing Shakugan no Shana III, they’re gonna go into “hibernation” again til Code Geass comes out -_-
Quote: “Our friends from Static-Subs invited us to finish Shakugan no Shana together. And we could never turn them down, so we have to interrupt our hibernation.”
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:07 am
Yay Eclipse is out <3
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:14 am
finally SS Eclipse!! :)
October 23rd, 2011 at 2:07 am
Soon = next week
There was like 5 minutes of reminiscing in total, not a recap at all.
October 23rd, 2011 at 2:22 am
Ohhh yes eclipse is here….
October 23rd, 2011 at 3:56 am
Eclipse are still alive for some projects which they feel that they HAVE to finish. I’m sure we won’t hear from them for a long time once this show ends. Too bad, they’re were, are and will always be a great subbing group. Good luck to them. Now on with the show!!!! :-D
October 23rd, 2011 at 8:03 am

October 23rd, 2011 at 8:50 am

October 23rd, 2011 at 5:23 pm
If you can’t stand the thought of Shana getting WTFPWND, then don’t watch the next EP, haha.
October 23rd, 2011 at 10:02 pm
can somebody help me with this! I cannot watch :(. There’s only pictures and sounds!!
October 23rd, 2011 at 11:14 pm
Lol, Commie and Eclipse are two good subbers comparing the two is hard, but I’ll note my observations.. Eclipse provides good eye candy, but in terms of comprehension/grammar and common sense, commie surpasses eclipse. At times eclipses subs don’t even make sense/ isn’t relevant to what they’re saying and you don’t need to be japanese to figure that one out. For example Commie translates Tomogara into crimson denizen, where Eclipse keeps Tomogara instead of translating it to it’s english translation. Eclipse doesn’t work on too many series any more from what I’ve noticed, so I guess that’s probably why Eclipse is less experienced at structuring Japanese into English. Another example is ZnT if you compare the subs that SS Ayu did to those of Eclipse, you’ll see a huge noticeable difference. If this was done by Ayu though I wouldn’t be able to compare him/she to anyone though.
October 24th, 2011 at 2:42 am
I prefer the Tomogara left as is. That’s actually the one thing that commie doesn’t do that bothers me. As far as I know, Tomogara is a made up word to describe the people of Guze (Like Japanese describes people from Japan). Calling them Denizens is just weird; you don’t call a Japanese guy, ‘Denizen.’
October 24th, 2011 at 2:48 am
Made up in terms of the context I mean, unless there’s some Japanese underlying meaning.
October 24th, 2011 at 3:19 am
Crimson Denizen = Guze no Tomogara
Crimson God = Guze no O?
Flame Haze = Fureimuheizu
The translations are great even amazing in fact, they improve the setting tremendously.
A newcomer would get confused and not know that a guze no tomogara, is the same thing as a tomogara. fureimuheizu or flame haze? Honestly!
October 24th, 2011 at 3:28 am
You would call a japanese guy a Tomogara and an american/whatever a Denizen. Crimson Denizen sounds far more natural, as most on the website are not Japanese and whoever would prefer a japanese meaning over a well thought out translation, are far off.
October 24th, 2011 at 7:09 pm
A newcomer obviously shouldn’t be starting a show in the third season anyways. If they’re confused, that’s their own problem.
A newcomer who doesn’t know Japanese wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between Guze no Tomogara and Tomogara. One who does, would. They would probably only pick up ‘Tomogara’ because they say it more often, but even then they usually don’t even listen closely to what they’re actually saying and just read the subs.
王(Ou) ＝ King
In the end, if you want to play specifics, then we should also be translating Reigi Maigo into “Midnight Lost Child.” It’s all about how the translators want to see it. Commie flows better in general, but just isn’t as traditional – since they’ve only worked on the third season, unlike Eclipse.
October 24th, 2011 at 9:36 pm
lol, at 1st i was exited that this ep comes but as i watch it i was pissed that this is 1of that lame ass crap filler ep
October 24th, 2011 at 11:50 pm
Nobody here knows Japanese, hence the need for subs. This show was dead for 3 years so most forgot the analogies/summary of the plot, so after 3 years it’s kind of hard to remember what a Tomogara is.
They don’t have to translate everything but translating as much as they can is the objective. The more simplified the translations the better and simpler it is on the viewer, reiji maigo was poorly translated, so I wouldn’t either into it’s english version.
Well I guess you can say Eclipse keeps it quite native. But they’re style seems like some foreigner who barely grasped the basics of English.
Anyways I stopped getting Eclipses subs after they ruined Znt S3 for me. I also watched a part on youtube of Eclipses subs, and compared to commies version they haven’t changed.
October 25th, 2011 at 1:38 am
OH YEA! Episode 3!:))
October 25th, 2011 at 2:22 am
You’re not making logical sense anymore, but whatever, just think what you want, bud
October 25th, 2011 at 2:23 am
You also missed my point completely – just saying.
October 25th, 2011 at 9:35 am
Whine more, Eclipse is still best :)
October 25th, 2011 at 10:38 pm
I guess I won the war, gg brah.
October 26th, 2011 at 2:06 am
@SyKoTiNe It’s all about consistency. Shakugan no Shana Season 1 and 2? I’m almost certain you watched SS-Eclipse subs. People by then, are used to the quirks like ~de arimasu, Guze no Tomogara, etc. These so-called “errors” are merely personal preference; you can’t say one group is better than the other by just giving a “quirk/personal bias” example. Yes, I’ll admit, SS-Eclipse subs, at times, especially with Wilhelmina’s hat’s short, pithy comments about the situation, the translation can get off. But to really compare two groups, you have to compare line by line, not just an opinion of how the two groups were from how you liked it, bias, etc.
October 26th, 2011 at 2:11 am
@SyKoTiNe Also, it’s your preference on if the sub is more “native” or closer to English. Some groups choose to translate and keep more of the “native” touch, some groups prefer to translate to simpler, more customary English. The goal is not to translate to customary English or to be as localized as possible, but to catch the nuances in Japanese and try to replicate the same effect in English. That’s usually done better with more “native” subbers.
October 26th, 2011 at 10:37 am
I read that review and it still means that Eclipse>Commie.
October 27th, 2011 at 12:58 am
Hmmm, your right in a way, both subbers do a great job, but they both present they’re work in their fashion. Having native subbers is key to translation, although you also need (Foreigners) in such a case to provide the translations in a more enriched and understanding English.
I read that blog you linked, I may not agree with it completely but I guess it does come down to preference.
To me, it’s whichever subtitle draws me closer to the characters unfolding emotions. And IMO it’s Commies, even if his translations aren’t 100% precise. And I honestly don’t care about intro/ED subs, but I will miss the de arimasu from Eclipse.=(
