Some of the info pages say 12 eps some say 13? Does anyone know is the 13 a special or an error on some the anime data sites? Will this series be the only one, or will the story continue to be fully developed with origins and purpose explained plus more of the really cute Sekirei girls???

Next week is final episode, however, episode 13 that you’re talking about could possibly be an OVA.

Twelve episode single cours seem to happen quite often for anime. The excellent Sora was a 12 episode story, with a sad ending. The OVA special was a cheerful one off story set in the middle of the arc. Also the charming Spice and Wolf series was 12 episodes plus an extra OVA that seemed more like a missing episode from the series. But these OVA’s took quite a few months to be released.

No more weekly Tsukiumi… and the rest. Dekapai withdrawal… The series just doesn’t feel like a 12 episode series, I sure hope they leave it open for more series to follow.

They just ended the season because they ran out of manga to use for another 12 episodes. Sekirei has a montly manga, so not that many chapters get released..atm there are 71 chapters from the manga, and the anime used about 50 chapters already.
We will probably have to wait a year or two before the manga is far enough for a second season anime…but then again let’s hope they will actually animate a second season someday and not leave us with a half ended story =)

@deathy Yup, thanks for this insightful explanation. Indeed, this is what happens to all ongoing manga turned anime, except in the case of the incredibly popular ones, where fillers are made for the anime, so that it doesn’t stop airing, until the manga has gone up ahead enough to resume the original story.
As for all Sekirei fans out there (including me, of course!) just keep following the story from the manga. It is still being scanlated (for those of us who can’t read japanese) so it should be fine, even if it will be a while until they have enough chapters to consider a second season, which might or not happen. In case in does, we can expect it next year. Any sooner would require the manga to release twice or more, per week, which is not realistic at this time.

Wikipedia lists it as 26 episodes… Maybe just an arc finale? Living in hope here.. fingers crossed.

The manga scanlation for chapter 71 is out guys!!! It really is sad to see this series ending, I read the manga first but the anime really captures a lot more of the emotion of the characters.

If you really like the Ecchiness of this series you’ll love reading the manga and all of it’s omakes!!!!

lol it is ending =-= i tot manga have alots.. i tot it will end only when the sekirei plan over … then now i have less one anime to watch soon…

errr how many episodes are their going to be for this episode????
I hope it doesn’t end soon, still wanna see Sekirei. I don’t need to tell why (you probably already know why) :P
