Ok… Nevermind, I fixed it (although only temporarily). The MKVExtract program put two programs present in my computer and they were conflicting with my MPC’s reading of the subtitles.

the only method you listed that strikes me as interesting is IRC. I know that this makes me look stupid, but I just don’t know what IRC is.

Also, can you guys help me out? At someone else’s suggestion, I’ve been trying to extract the subtitle streams from my .mkv files by using MKVExtract. After what I thought was a failed attempt, I felt like watching a .mkv file that I had not tampered with. But for some reason, my Media Player Classic is not able to play the subtitle streams anymore! It seems like the player can see that there is a subtitle stream, but the player seems to be going all “meh… I feel too lazy to play both that AND the video…” And now the only player that I have that can still play the videos WITH the subtitles (although crappily) is VLC!? I need help!
