Dragon Ball Kai was remastered and re-cut, not reanimated,
thus the resulting disappointment… big difference.

    October 2nd, 2011 at 11:14 am

Well that was interesting! It’s been several years since I saw the first one, so I don’t remember it too well. But it seems like they really rushed the story along. They seem to be condensing multiple episodes into one and skipping a lot of content. And that music. I don’t recall, did Gon always look like Astroboy?

When I watched the first version, I kept thinking that his blond friend would reveal that he was a girl.

    Chii88 Says:
    October 2nd, 2011 at 11:55 am

Give back Junko Takeuchi voice to gons T___T. It really feels weird to hear someone else voice when Gon’s lips is moving…

    garie234 Says:
    October 2nd, 2011 at 12:20 pm

the pacing of this story is so fast than the old series, basing from the first episode the old series is much better.
but the ending song is good

    Liinah Says:
    October 2nd, 2011 at 12:31 pm

@Bleachway Yes, because it’ll be a remake and it seems pretty much the same.
But i do admit the old version will probably be better ’cause of the blood and old voices.

    ko0l Says:
    October 2nd, 2011 at 2:09 pm

    meh.. original is better

New version has lots of cuts, bad sound track and animation is not much better. This is nowhere where near the quality of FMA: Brotherhood

Animation of the original was already pretty decent and the pace was perfect with next to no fillers.
    Why are they ruining it?

    Minified Says:
    October 2nd, 2011 at 2:14 pm

    Dokutaa Ecchi Says:
    October 2nd, 2011 at 9:24 pm

I watched the original for the first time about six months ago, so it’s fresh in my mind. But I don’t want to compare the two. That’s not fair to the new series to always be measuring it by the old series. We don’t do that with other series. So I’ll simply say that it was a show I really enjoyed and will continue watching. :)

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You can’t be fucking serious? I think you’re the only one with that opinion…. Brotherhood was by far superior to the original, the original went off trial and started shooting out shit half way through and the ending omg the ending… The ending was horrible.

    Springmelt Says:
    October 2nd, 2011 at 11:49 pm

I am thinking that the reason they Are hurrying it along is because it was covered in the original anime and they want to get past Greed Island arc. So far the animation is close to original. The voice actors are good also. It does feel strange not hearing original voices though.

    Mayl Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 12:57 am

First time watching this show and I really like it so far!! But I can see how it’s fast in pacing cause what’s covered in this episode usually spans 3 in an old anime series

    Jormakun Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 1:10 am

Ran out of facepalm during the opening. Animation doesn’t look that good, opening song was terrible, story is way too fast, voice actors are.. Well, they are decent, cannot beat originals though.

I really hope this will follow manga further than original did. That would be only reason to keep watching this.

    ko0l Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 1:36 am

    @burningicecube

For FMA, the original did the first arcs better, but animation wasn’t as good and 2nd half sucked so I still recommend people to watch the original for at least the first half.

    alfredcastle Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 1:38 am

O do not see the orginial one, so since this is a remake there’s no problen in watching this, right?

I still prefer the old over this one. Ill keep downloading it even though this version is actually PG as different from the old was more PG-13.

    ko0l Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 1:48 am

    @Springmelt

Then they should’ve just started past the greed island arc, they didn’t have to remake this, the original followed the manga pretty closely already.

    Jormakun Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 1:49 am

    @alfredcastle

If you haven’t seen original, there’s definitely no problem watching this. But in that case I would like to suggest you read first chapters of manga, because this remake seems to leave some important parts of the story out.

    knightcj701 Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 2:14 am

haha, its like a recap of the original first 3 or 4 episodes /golfclap. im probably expecting too much from this, the original anime series had the violence watered down to begin with and now with the heightened censoring? ill probably wait for the bds.

    rinnegansage Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 3:15 am

it just old episodes in random, done by nu animators and dubbers. wasted my time downloading it, i thought it was the chimera ant arc

    EmLeingod Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 4:38 am

This will probably be what FMA Brotherhood was to the first FMA anime.

MadHouse’s animators are freaking gods too, this first episode really flew through the first 4 or so eps, we’ll be caught up to the old anime in 20 episodes or so at this rate.

    garie234 Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 7:07 am

they make so many cut its because the maker of this remake presume that the viewers had already watched the old season

    yonku_shankz Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 10:10 pm

    yes 1000%!

    Springmelt Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 10:43 pm

@ko0l Oh I agree. I would have much preferred that but you gotta remember. Hunter x Hunter being remade now means it hits a new wave of people who may not have ever heard about it. If they started after Greed island then the people new to Hunter x Hunter wouldnt have a clue at all. As it is, its being rushed so fast they are missing out on important parts of the story. I hope that when they reach Greed Island they slow down the story because its new ground there and they arent rehashing a faithful adaption that another company has already done.

    Mischgi Says:
    October 3rd, 2011 at 11:18 pm

i really liked the old version, no doubt about that :)
i am also interested in seeing the known arcs again, definitely rewatchable for me
but i also very much like the idea of a remake (+ ongoing!) due to the following reasons:
first of all you see a new animation, so obviously something is different which could be of interest.
and i think it is quite good to have a fast-paced storyline because you come to all awesome, essential parts without delays!
fillers would mean many filler episodes for many weeks/months, of course, and therefore i would have to wait really looong for the new arc
and well.. most importantly, i am dying to see how it develops after the last arc went off :)

    Mischgi Says:
    October 4th, 2011 at 2:42 am

but yeah… i have to admit there is one negative aspect of the new series: gon’s voice! seems unfamiliar and not as “cheeky” as the old one. you somewhat get the feeling it just doesn’t suit him well…
but this blemish could eventually fade away when you get accustomed to the new one (i hope, at least ^^)

    sry 4 double post btw

    DarphBobo Says:
    October 4th, 2011 at 9:47 am

Never seen the origional, so for me this is all new, and the voices sound just fine. I also like the pace this has started out at, if this was Dragonball, it’d take him an ep just to catch the damned fish.

    Kadryel Says:
    October 5th, 2011 at 10:08 am

This is pretty good so far even thought I havent seen the original, I like their voice, they fit their character so far.

    farisr Says:
    October 5th, 2011 at 3:34 pm

Funnily enough, DarphBobo, that is exactly what happened in the original Hunter X Hunter series. Took nearly an episode for him to catch the fish.

At the rate they’re going, they will probably cover the 92 “episodes” (62 series episodes, 30 ova episodes) in about 30-40 eps.

I think this is a great recap for those people who watched the original series, and an updated version for current anime watchers that doesn’t fall into the trap of overly slow pacing.

Don’t get me wrong, the slow pacing added some emotional impact (Mito-san’s dilemma of sending Gon out) sometime in the originals, but at times it was just dreadful. Like, 20 minute powerups of DBZ dreadful.

    walauea Says:

This is a horrible remake of a great series. If you haven’t seen the original do yourself a favor and watch it. Better voice actors, better story and pacing, and better soundtrack. The only compliment I can give to the new Hunter x Hunter is that it is brighter.

i actually agree with Pie_Face. i liked the first FMA because of it’s darker moodand found FMA: brotherhood quite childish compared to the first one. but that’s just me! although i agree that the video quality was superior compared to the first one but i tend to look at the story and the mood rather than the video quality!

    Kalomalu Says:

I’m very fond of Hunter_X_Hunter, and I’ve been watching it since 2003, therefore I had watched and downloaded all of it, which including:
Hunter × Hunter TV 1999 TV series
    Hunter x Hunter Musical
Hunter × Hunter OVA 1: Genei Ryodan
Hunter × Hunter OVA 2: Greed Island
    Hunter × Hunter OVA 3: G.I. Final.

those are the ones who brought fame and fascination to Hunter × Hunter as a remarkable Animation worldwide.

so, I’m always eagerly waiting for any new season of Hunter × Hunter,

but unfortunately, Hunter × Hunter (2011) episodes was disappointing.

Hunter × Hunter (2011) episodes are just repeated stories of the old seasons, not continued stories, so nothing is new in them.

I think we need to be honest and frankly speaking about Hunter × Hunter (2011) episodes, I did not like them. they shouldn’t be released from the first place. just a waste of time. just repeated stories of the old seasons, not continued stories, so nothing is new in them. very disappointing.

we need to know, whether Gon has found his father or not? what happened in the expected battle between Hisoka and Kuroru? did Kuroru got rid of Kurapika’s chain, so he can use his Nen Abilitites in the battle with Hisoka?
what happened with Biscuit, Razor, Tsezguerra, Gensuru and his comrades, and all the other characters?

there’s a lot of questions left without answers?

    hoojie13 Says:

    @Kalomalu

I think, though this is just my thought, the reason the anime has been remade is to revive it’s popularity.

As some of you may know, if you read the manga, the manga was in hiatus for a long time and continued some years later. As for your questions, they’re pretty much all in the manga.

I do hope this series continues up to the part to the Chimera arc since that half of that arc was drawn in poor quality in the manga due to the author’s sickness.

P.S – The only thing in this anime I don’t like is how they made Killua look cute.
