There will be an OVA. And maybe a 2nd season?

Drifters of the Dead, a 20 minute ova, will be released on bluray in April.
Until then we can peacefully enjoy the lack of this terrible fanservice crap that could have been a great series.

No, the fan service is fine. To design and draw up such shmexy characters and not have pantsu every 5 minutes would have been a severe injustice to us all.

What this series needed was a little research into the common acceptance of what a “zombie” is. They used the cheesy Resident Evil zombies and did them all wrong. The whole fear and attraction to them was that they were mindless, hungry, slow and dead. They stumbled around looking for stuff to eat and tripped up over stuff. Should have been a lot better.

This is the last episode I believe, my anime list website has said only 12 episodes and that the series finished on the 20 of sep.

i been to some more well come out on March let just hope they will i really enjoy this a lot got my playing bit of Resident evil now lol

Perhaps I should have better phrased my issue with this series. The fanservice isn’t specifically to blame, however the abundance of fanservice and utter lack of coherent plot is a problem. This accentuates the already overbearing amount of fanservice and makes it really really annoying.

c__c research what zombie is… really? zombie much like werewolves, vampires, and trolls are open to the individual, cultural, and societies point of view of them. Even more so, they aren’t real, so its up to the story teller how the creatures are. What really matters is how the characters react to the challenges facing them. Saying they, a culture not of your own, that they ‘did them all wrong’ is very ignorant of you.

This was a great series, very entertaining.

Actually, those creatures are the product of folklore, very different from what a zombie is.

Zombies are actually very real, originated from Haitian voodoo drugs, and entered the mainstream primarily through George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead.”
Just because some media has taken the liberty to change the zombie, doesn’t mean that the source is open to interpretation.

This will be the 200`th anime in my completed list XD

I am waiting for the DVD/BR release. To give great looking characters And fanservice moments But then Cover them up is criminal!
The Fanservice does Not distract from the plot: and this show has one!
Many zombie flicks show nothing of the mental struggle to adapt to the new conditions, or how hard it is to do so for the majority of people. They cling to old hopes, strong leaders or go mad. This show has demonstrated each, our group has banded together for its common survival: even chooseing itself over merging with another!
Anyone complaining that this show has little or no plot should sit and re-watch with a better eye: complex interpersonal dynamics (who is the alpha female? ^_^), character growth (can’t kill -> survive mode; nerd/whimp -> protector; etc), and funny!

I think there are two reasons that the series has only progressed one season. The first is that the manga only progressed about this far before it went on hiatus for a year. The decision to restart the manga was around the same time a series was proposed. Unsure of the draw to a series after a year off they only committed to one season.
The second, Madhouse,(production company for HOTD), has entered in to a collaboration with Marvel. They will giving an anime treatment to Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men and Blade.
They were also responsible for the two Hulk vs. movies and Planet Hulk.
I think we will get a second season of HOTD but given the added demands it will probably have to wait.

perhaps we’ll see an ‘intermediate season’ with new caracters(much like that esper anime with loli’s @ work before season II)

the only beef i have is the proportions,well out of proportions. its high school girls for gods sake lol. some of them have got to be less chested. not that i dont like the fanservice :)

even more practically speaking, lets say you’re in vacation, something happens (tsunami?) and you can only take one of them. will you still go for the heavier one or a skinnier one? i dare you (practically speaking, of course) pick up the heavy one and try to get away.

There are so many posting about how terrible a show this was. If it was so bad why did you watch all 12? I freakin loved this anime and can’t wait to see if they are coming out with a 2nd season.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I watched it because the manga is great and I kept hoping it would get better. HotD had its moments but nothing like what it deserved. I won’t however argue my opinion with a bunch of 12yr old kids, I know that this had so much more potential and it’s really just sad that it didn’t pan out as much as it should have.

If you aren’t going to argue your opinion, I suppose you shouldn’t have posted at all.

You thought it wasn’t good, but the majority of us, most of whom are not 12, by the way, thought it was a great season and are anxiously waiting for the second, at least news of a second.

If I’ve learned anything in my 15 years on the internet it’s that there’s never a shortage of 12 year olds.
You’ll see them here posting asinine things like “first” “2nd” and “yo wtf are this?!?!”.
They later claim bad / mediocre series to be “the best animee ever” simply because it’s violent and shows large breasts.
If you think the majority of the people who post here are outside of that demographic you might just be blind. ;)

Well… in my opinion this anime was a sort of american story about zombies converted into anime, with a bunch of fanservice etc. But – honestly – action was so intense, that I couldn’t relate how fast time flows.
I’ve read earlier posts and I don’t think there was a time to choose who to rescue or not, of course – Komuro chose Rei, because he had a crush on her, if he came screaming “omg people – zombies are at school” no one would listen to him or (what was shown later) panic would made rescuing Rei impossible. Anyway – in the team they made each character is somehow useful – clumsy, defenseless and busty Sensei can drive a car etc. Let’s say that breast size of saved female characters is a coincidence ;)

LOL at the whole series…. Meh, another ecchi show after all. But, Madhouse at least puts efforts into their animation so they’re always a worthwhile watch.

And so it finally ends… Good riddance.

The ending sucked horribly, most of the characters lacked intelligence and most (if not all) of the show was dedicated to ecchi fans. I did like the samurai girl though! :)
