June 27th, 2013 at 6:01 pm
@GUYARAB Where did you find the mkv with sound?
June 27th, 2013 at 6:07 pm
Could someone please be so kind as to post -detailed- instructions how to setup MPC-HC for being able to play the Opus Audio or at least a link to them?
June 27th, 2013 at 6:37 pm
This is what I tried and still nothing on the sound issue. I opened the options of MPC-HC. Under the Option External Filters I added all the LAV available filters and set them to Prefer. Clicked OK and opened the mkv again but still no sound playing. I then followed another route. I extracted the sound track using mkvmerge GUI and used TAudio Converter to change the track from Opus format to ACC. I then merged the new sound format of ACC with the original file using mkvmegre GUI again (this time I ticked out the Opus track). Now I have the original file with a different sound track of ACC format and it plays just fine. I hope this helps.

if you are using the latest cccp (30.05.2013):
1. start->programs->cccp->cccp settings
2. choose on right-bottom: “cccp system settings”
3. uncheck mkv on the haali side (left) and mark it on LAV
4. click ok, ok

For those with no sound AND if you have the K-lite Codec pack. Basically do what abek said(thank you abek).
1. If you have K-lite Codec pack, go to that program(s) folder, select the “Codec Tweak Tool” program.
2. Under “Codec and Filter management”, select the “preferred splitters” button.
3. Under .MKV(should be second from the top, change it from Haali to LAV Splitter.
4. Hit “apply and close” button at the bottom.
5.watch it :D

is this a prologue?
June 28th, 2013 at 1:00 am
Just follow what Setesh said, it worked for me. Using MPC to watch :p
June 28th, 2013 at 1:16 am
I never understood the appeal of MPC. I have used Zoom player for years and have never had a problem with audio, subs or quality.
June 28th, 2013 at 2:13 am
And what about the video quality? Good enough? Can’t find an example anywhere..
June 28th, 2013 at 2:55 am
Video is ok, also sound once I got it working. The whole reimagining seems legit so far. But gorramit I hate the music. Where is Yoko Kanno when you need her?
June 28th, 2013 at 5:47 am
Where is Yoko Kanno when you need her?
She’s busy plagiarizing some other artists obscure work.
June 28th, 2013 at 5:53 am
Oh and if you want proof.
June 28th, 2013 at 6:45 am
Actually the copy of this anime I have obtained from Warez.BB sounds pretty good through VLC media player knowing I have 5.1 speakers hooked up to my computer. As I downloaded this one it won`t even play on VLC for some reason.Dao good effort mate but there is something missing with the sound and codecs. There is another three episodes coming I am looking forward to these with sound.
June 28th, 2013 at 7:07 am
Audio is broken on MPC. Crashes on VLC.
June 28th, 2013 at 8:32 am
I’m not sure what the point is of encoding a 4:2:0 source to 4:4:4.
June 28th, 2013 at 8:34 am
Although this didn’t work on VLC for me, when I updated my CCCP pack (a new one was just released) the audio and video (plus subs) worked fine on MPC for me :)
June 28th, 2013 at 8:35 am
Works fine on MPC if you set it to use LAV instead of Haali, watched it through with zero issues after that, not sure where i sit on the re-imagining of the series i’m a fan of the older stuff, i guess i’ll just need to see where it goes :)
June 28th, 2013 at 1:25 pm
Thanks Setesh for the infos with K-lite Codec :-)
June 28th, 2013 at 2:54 pm
Is it just me or the major is just too freaking weak?! this is bull-
June 28th, 2013 at 10:49 pm
@lockheed, I think she is only because she has the body and experience from the 501. Once she is in Section 9, she gets her new body, but I don’t know how or even if they are going to try working it in. It’ll be nice if they make this a scalable anime TV series.
June 29th, 2013 at 8:30 am
@madkracker6969: No. If you have seen the Arise manga. The major was already awesome in the 501.
June 29th, 2013 at 10:16 am
This was actually better than what I expected it to be.
Too bad next one is out in November :(
June 29th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
omg this is headache to watch on a Mac…
June 29th, 2013 at 3:03 pm
^Why so? For me, the 1080p, work just fine.
June 29th, 2013 at 4:07 pm
i doubt its dual audio and i doubt its the same Major…wonder if i should act as if i never heard of it like it never existed in the fist place? (question is should i wait for it to be in English version. since am used to her voice in English..)

Ghost in the Shell: Arise (攻殻機動隊ARISE -GHOST IN THE SHELL- Kōkaku Kidōtai Araizu -Gōsuto In Za Sheru-?) is a film series that serves as a reimagining of Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell. The films, a four-part series, feature new character designs and is directed by Kazuchika Kise, screenplay by Tow Ubukata, and music by Cornelius.
Funimation has acquired the rights for all four films for a North American release.(hmmm now is worth it or not…)
June 29th, 2013 at 4:36 pm
The audio does work, just not in VLC media player. It’s simply not supported. The tips above may seem a bit confusing, so I’ll break it down:
just download MPC:
Then CCCP, you don’t need to download Insurgent:
Once they’re both installed choose to open the file with MPC and it should work just fine.

Seriously tho Dao, WTF is the point of me having to keep donating yall money if yall cant even respond to the people who actually SUPPORT the site. WHAT is up with the premium section downloads??????? yall haven’t posted in weeks
July 3rd, 2013 at 1:26 am
I love the old stuff, this rehash is pretty damn good though. I don’t terribly mind the changes. Not to say i don’t wish they’d do more with the old.. but obviously they won’t. Atleast they’re keeping it alive somehow.

Greetings as this is my first comment here.
Maybe I’m just unfortunate, but the download I got for this feature has a “UNDF” notice. I still can’t find a player to watch and enjoy it. Downloaded Realplayer earlier but it just won’t go. Hope that someone can help. Thanks !

Thanks Dao! I hate eraser now, but because of you I found this movie!
and my hate for eraser is because I
don’t want to become a codec expert just so I can listen to a movie’s audio.. in some things conformity is good.
July 8th, 2013 at 3:45 am
(sry, more readable version:(will know better in the future)

I think most people are still having issues playing it. I downloaded the 720p version updated my CCCP codecs and it was already set to LAV rather than Haali and it wont even play, I can scrub through the timeline but no sound or video. At least before the update I could see the video. Hopefully there’s another version coming that’s less of a struggle?
July 9th, 2013 at 3:26 pm
Bah of course right after I type that My computer went into sleep mode, when it came out it could suddenly play the video. Fuckin’ computers.
July 14th, 2013 at 2:16 am
Yup, I’m having exactly the same problem. VLC won’t play the audio, and my wd TV live box won’t even play it :(
