I use VLC, but I’ve also installed CCCP, since I’ll convert my MKV’s to another format for my PMP sometimes.

CCCP is a pack of codecs that should allow you to watch pretty much every media file out there with any media player that supports installed codecs.

Download the Combined Community Codec Pack for Windows, MPlayer for *nix, and MPlayerOSX Extended for Mac. Avoid K-Lite, and VLC, and other outdated/inferior players (e.g. GOMPlayer, KMPlayer, SMPlayer, etc.) by all means necessary.

Haha K-Lite inferior? CCCP never worked on my pc and K-Lite was the only codecs who worked out of the box on my pc.

Meh, if it works for you who cares. VLC player works for me, and that quite frankly is all that matters to me.

CCCP is working well. I’m not seeing any subtitles in WindowsMediaPlayer 11(with the fullmetal .mkv’s). CCCP’s FAQs suggest media player classic anyways, and that works well so I’m good :) Thanks for the suggestions!!!

If you’re going to change codec packs, make sure you uninstall your current one before installing the next one. For example, do not have K-lite and CCCP installed simultaneously.

Yeah. Never have both CCCP and K-lite installed at the same time. Uninstall CCCP ASAP!

@nullleben: wtf? You know Eclipse is a *group* right? Not an individual? They’re always slower, but usually that’s because they take the time to translate properly- they’ll usually do things like put notes where there’s strange Japanese humour. Official subs will take a Japanese joke and find some half-assed English equivalent and it usually doesn’t fit well. Speedsubbers like Aoshen are bloody fast, but it’s often engrish, with no attempt what-so-ever to adapt or explain unique Japanese stuff.
I usually wait for Eclipse but I’m also impatient, anyone know how well TMD subs are done?

Some possible reasons why eclipse is late and why its not random:

1.) The moon is in the waxing crescent phase where its 36% of full. This is the capacity they are using to sub with.

2.) 33/3 is 11 which is prime and whenever that happens they are busy trying to figure out how to divide it.

3.) There was a penumbral lunar eclipse on Aug 06,2009 and they ran out of party supplies from celebrating it and the hang overs kicked in.
