Dugzino – Maybe, maybe not. It was decent, but this one should be much better. This is only a remake, but this one sticks closer to the manga.

I agree with Donk. Not sure how its going to turn out since its only eps. 1 but right now old anime is definitely looking better. What’s with the lame attempts at humor? Seems like this version isn’t going to have as much philosophy and thought provoking dialogue as the old one. The story is doesn’t develop well either. Each one of the old version’s episodes was very fulfilling; this one seems chaotic and incoherent. Wish they just added more story to the old one or left it alone.

Read my post again. I began with a warning that it was only the first episode, and I’m not that quick to judge the entire series because my impression was based only on one episode. I’ll be watching many more episodes before I decide whether the remake is good because I truly love the FMA series. So calm down; my opinion was based on the merits of this episode stand alone, and I didn’t find the humor and story line to be great; it was mediocre at best compared to any stand alone episodes of the first series. What made the original version great was that it caught your attention at the beginning and never let go; almost every episode was a masterpiece. This one was every ehhh… but who knows it might get a lot better.

well lets hope its still as good as the first series I’m gonna have to say i was actually expecting them to continue the Original one

For any of you who haven’t read the manga but liked the original anime, this is a must watch
Even if you don’t like the first couple of episodes you’ve gotta watch it
Major plot differences from about half way onwards

This first episode has the same feeling as
hayate’s first episode (not the ova) It
feels like they tried to give like a bit
of setting up of trying to introduce as
many characters as possible and to give alot of the plot for one episode.

This episode almost had an OVA feeling
to it, especially from the preview of next episode showing that they’re going to go back to where things started.

gSS is a good fansub, they did Gundam, so i belive that the sub is great, i watched the Shinsen sub, its good as well, and this airs once a week in Japan, each Sunday in 5 or 6PM

zomg eclipse are also subbing this…might stick to shinsen though…

I have to say, I actually enjoyed this first episode more than I did the first episode of the original anime. Tbh, the first FMA series kind of stunk imo until about half way through.

I find it amazing that this is supposed to be a remake that follows the manga 100% this time, yet the first episode at least starts off with filler material (haven’t watched it all yet)
I know the manga isn’t finished yet but they’ve got ages until they catch up >_>
Ah well, the animation looks good and most of the voices are the same, looing forward to the rest

gSS is a collaboration between gg subs and BulletSpeedSubs (BSS). gg is well known for Code Geass but have completed several other projects. They are a reputable (and somewhat controversial) group. BSS initially subbed TTGL, bringing the fastest subs. Since then, they have shifted their subbing style to provide a more high quality and professional release. Hence, BSS no longer offers Xvid formats of their releases and have begun to release quality subs. They have, however, retained their name, BSS. The collaboration gSS began with Gundam00. Although they initially were the fastest releaser, some issues resulted in delayed releases (almost 2 days in some cases). However, it is a combination of two high quality sub groups.
