besides being a resourse hog? intrusive installation (McAfee VirusScan Plus), paid updates after a year, false positves, etc.. Avast on the other hand is free, updates regularly, light on the resourses even though its "on" all the time. Been using Avast for about 3 years and my laptops never had any problems with viruses. also have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed and Trend Micro hijackthis installed just in case.

lol.. according to CNET, PC magazine, Laptop Magazine and some tech sites AVG is ranked at the top followed by Panda, ESET NOD32, Kaspersky, AVAst, and Norton and McAfee at the bottom with quality of "protection". you should do youre own research since iam pretty biased since iam using Avast(acer), AVG(Sony), and Panda Antivirus Beta(compaq) on 3 different laptops with Panda running on my compaq laptop with Windows 7 RC. you will find that most people and "professionals" find McAfee lacking in protection. never had any problems with viruses.
