For me, Clannad was such a contrived melodrama that suspension of disbelief simply didn't exist.

Lucky Star ep.22 got to me a bit,
( Click to show/hide )
when Konata's dead mother came back as a ghost.
At least I think it was 22.

The very final scene of Sketchbook ~Full Colors~ was touching I guess.

And then there was Grave of the Fireflies.

To be honest, I find anime to be a bit weak in this department in general. That's not really a bad thing.

I've gotten close but have never seen an anime that actually made me cry. Well, except for some shows with really really bad animation.

I have been very close to crying a few times with series such as
-Clannad S2, though the movie was sadder.
-5 Cm Per Second
( Click to show/hide )
How the circumstances in life can drive away the love of your life, I have experienced that first hand so the story got to me

-Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan
( Click to show/hide )
At the end where Nia vanishes forever after getting married to Simon, they deserved to be happy

-Voices of a Distant Star
( Click to show/hide )
When Mikako slowly drifts in space, never to be seen or heard again. Damn that Makoto Shinkai, he makes excellent but depressing movies

I might have a couple of more, but I cannot think at the moment.

Pick any of the kyoani + key animes and... well, I cried... a lot... rivers of tears.
I was kind of disapointed of Clannad since i hadn't cried... but then ushio's arc came, and i cried for like 3 episodes in a row (episode 18 is one of the 5 best episodes ever). Still, nothing beats kanon 2006 Makoto's arc: best tearjerking episodes ever, and my favorite 3 episodes of all time too. And never to forget air tv's last 2 episodes, also incredible good.
I also did cry in Claymore, in the flashback when Claire makes Teressa cry. Another of the best episodes ever.
Casshern Sins also had a few episodes that made me cry/about to cry.
Oh... and of course, there's always Wolf rain's, whose last episodes are pure tearjerking.
I've watered my eyes in a bunch of other ones, but these ones are those that really made me cry for the whole episode or a long time at least.

Cross Game (which is currently airing) is probably the only series which got to me.
( Click to show/hide )
If you haven't seen it go watch it, I'd rather not be the faggot that spoils

Of course, most key series are sad too. Other series have their moments too.

I'd rather not go spoiling stuff though, so I won't point out much else except that cross game is a must watch.
