I placed this in "The Void" because that is where the live action movie has been for the last ten years give or take. You would think that Hollywish would would get the hint. Not all material is meant for the big screen in a live action format. Don't get me wrong I would love to see this anime as well as a few others go live action. I just don't think it can be done in a way that could do justice to the original. I fear another horrendous adaption like The Avatar: The Last Airbender.

So what do you guys think about this. Would you pay to see a live action version of this? I am curious about this because it is ppl like us who would make up the core audience for this film.

They won't do it justice unless they hire japanaese actors, somehow (doubtful) make it a japanese language movie and subtitle it in english and/or have said japanese actors speak in english but with no accent (yeah...) so long story short, no matter what they do, ain't happening.

Only good jpn to NA version I've seen and Personally I thought was a siuccess, wa Speed racer, but look at the box office flop that turned out to be. The movie was purely made by fans for fans, and yet THAT wasn't enough to make it the money it deserved. Sad thing is shitty holywood will always pander to the shitty average american crowd, which is why shit like Avatar (lol dances with wolves in SPACE) breaks world records in sales.

Bad ass CGI, I'll give it that and ONLY that, even I forgot At times that I was watching CGI, the damn movie looked amazing. At times it even made Lucas's shitty new trilogy of Star War's movies look like shit (cant touch the magic of the originals baby)

And I'll stop there beore I trail off even more XD

Bottom line is: it may yet happen, but it won't "work."

It doesn't matter who the actors are, how good or bad at acting they are, or how good or bad the script is. If its going to have anything in common with the anime version of the film, Tetsuo is going to balloon into a giant mass of veiny flesh and squash everything in his rolls of fat at the end, and I want to see how fucking hilarious that is going to look in live action with CGI.

Also those children that look like old folks.

This is going to be the #1 comedy of the year when it comes out.

The CGI is going to look bad, period. The Akira live-action film is going to be the pg-13 remake of your dreams.
