So, is it money well spent?

Depends. IF you look at the risk vs. reward of it, it seems highly well spent because you KNOW you're going to be getting hits.

On the other hand, couldn't they have done this for virtually no money with a good photoshop editor and everything? It does raise some serious questions.

To me, the answer is no.

Well, if they want it, I can do it for them no charge. It also apparent that the people in the Ministry is impotent that there's no one in there with the necessary knowledge so they have to give the tender to some newly-made company.

They are obviously robbing the tax-payer's money, for something that can be done with virtually no cost.

Oh man, maintaining a facebook fanpage isn't so hard that it must be done by a certified pro. There's been an air of suspicion about this whole thing and the people is absolutely furious on how the government use the country's money.

but its the government , they've got money and its sounds good for them to say it was done by *this and this* famous pro , rather then it was done by friend of the person in charge , and seriously its Malaysia and they get a heck lot of money from tourism , but still I too think its a little too expensive

No, it's very expensive. Why would they spent so much money when they can get it done with minimum cost? I'll give you a very interesting info. The company that has been given the tender was newly-formed. Why the Ministry didn't give it to a more experienced and more importantly, cheaper company? You know, the price of many essential goods in Malaysia has been hiked. It affects everything. From food to clothes to even electricity. Even the cable TV monthly subscription is more expensive now. Well, let's not mention the oil prices. The people has been told to be careful with their spending. But the Ministry just go around and burn the money to, for me, an insignificant causes. They also planned to build a 100-storey tower worth 1.8 billion USD. Fucking 1.8 billion.

well yeah ok its very expensive , I mean the fb thing but we have to consider that they are earning a heck lot of money in tourism , and if the page gives more then for what it was made , its a profitable deal , even-though profit is gonna be low , and yeah if you think that Malaysian government is spending a lot on insignificant causes , you should turn your eye on Indian Economy and see that even worse is possible , but still as you said it , it can be done in a more inexpensive manner , but now nothing can be undone

It's destined to be doomed. Yes, we earn lots of money from tourism. But where did the money go after that? Back to maintaining the ever so 'expensive' facebook fanpage? The Ministry of Tourism has received a lot of sticks from various sources. I wonder how long can they keep it up.
