Default Do you care about which fansub you choose to watch?? - 04-18-2011, 08:29 PM

Just curious and want to hear your thoughts about this.

Anyway, for me I'm half picky/half don't care about choosing which fansub to watch. The reason is, well because I can understand 70% of convo without the subs so I'm not that picky with choosing a fansub but, for a lot of you - it seems choosing a right fansub is good for watching an anime. That's true since different group use/have different encoding, translation, editing, style etc, and it kind of make us choose which fansub to watch with

Moreoever, there are a lot of people who criticizes about how e.g. one fansub group "stole" TL from the other, or one's editing sucks balls, one is hella better than other because its reknown and popular etc...

You can clearly see these kind of criticism during start of new seasons where new episodes come out and pretty much, people argue which fansub is good or bad. Also, some people might ask "So which one should I download?? A or B??"

Anyway, this is my personal opinion but I reckon its kind of rude to ANY fansub groups saying that they suck or criticize how bad they translate/edit etc... I mean, they are fansubbing for us for FREE and spending their time on it. They don't get paid to do this kind of stuff so why rage/troll at them when they are providing anime for you??

So, I just want to know if you guys care about which fansub you pick to watch or just don't care at all??

Why isn't that an option!?

I don't normally care since it's fairly easy to pick up what isn't translated. The only time I would care is when the subtitles are obnoxiously huge or distracting in any other way... and even then I'd probably watch the earlier release.

I care!

I usually don't watch anime for 4-6 months so I pick which fansub I like and does a good job, that has finished the series.

well I don't care that much but it does matter , though I dont wait for a specific fansub group to sub the ep first but I enjoy it more if the subs are good . And the other +point with a good subbing group is that they will sub the op and ed too and give refrences at appropriate places !!

Well, I stay away from speedsubs. They always let me down, when it comes to translations. T_T

As long as they don't localize honorfics, I won't care which group I pick. (so "NO!" for gg)
Op & Ed are also important for me. No need to be karaoke, as long as its translated, I'm fine with it.

I usually stick with the subgroups that have subbed previous animes I watched. If last season a subgroup subbed an entire season of an anime I liked I'll be looking for them if they sub another show I like.

When it comes to fonts and editing I don't really mind. There's really bad subs out there but in general most are decent enough to go on even if your Japanese isn't that good. And as you said, we don't REALLY have the right to complain, for me it's just that if the subs really suck, just don't sub it... Either do it good or don't do it. <--- Proper goal in life.

As long as the quality is fine, it's a go-go

HAH! I'm allowed to say that.

So no i don't really care much, cause some fansub groups can't even be considered as subbing, HAI DOES NOT ONLY MEAN YES AND OKAY FFUUUUUU-
Anyways, ^ Copy what Tryplex-sama said and you know my answer aswell.

yes i do care because there are many useless sub groups who can't even write properly ... and makes too many mistakes in subbing ... cuz my ears are used to japanese and i understand many words ... when subbing group translates words to mean something they don't ... it just angers me.
