Default OS question people. - 09-25-2010, 12:28 AM

Since I'm about to shoot my computer I was considering changing from Vista to Win 7. I was looking for input and opinions about Win 7. Those who have it, are you diggin on it or are you wishing to go back to XP. If your satisfied what version do you have Home, Premium, Ultimate?

Any input would be appreciated.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro x64 and Windows XP x86 I find Windows 7 excellent and perfect for my games and viewing my movies and all... But if you're from Vista to Windows 7 you probably will be used to most of the things except for some minor changes...

Furthermore, Vista is much much larger and takes up a lot of space using lots of your computer power, so if you upgrade to Windows 7 it'll probably free up lots of your computer space allowing your computer to be very much faster than it is right now.

So in conclusion, I'm all for Windows 7.

Love win7. Its windows XP with a face lift, and kept the good features of vista... though few there were... I'm using Ultimate. I bought the full version from a friend for 100 bucks. Same price as the OEM. <--- suggest you get that if you build a new computer. Or if you are upgrading just buy the upgrade CD.

I am very satisfied with Win7, and I have the Home Premium Ed. 32bit. I wanted 64bit, but my laptop would not agree with it well, and well it was free, so I took it. I have downloaded a trial of Ultimate and that too was amazing.

Switching from Vista to Win7 was the best thing I have ever done. And for my parents, they went from XP to Win7, and the old PoS computer was running like new again. Win7 is highly customizable like XP, and even offers an "XP Mode" for versions Home Premium and up (Pro/Ult it is included), which allows you to run a certain program or 2 in a virtual XP like environment.

But my laptop came with Vista on it, then I went with a version made by the Rockers Team, and just used my serial key and it ran better than the original. From there I downloaded and used a beta version of Win7, till I officially got my version of Win7 from Microsoft. Win7 was the best investment I have ever made. It even enabled me to play some of my PC games which Vista would not let me run at all.

Also going from Vista to Win7 my computer was like brand new out of the box. It ran sooo much better. So I recommend you switch to Win7 if you can.

Depending on your level of expertise within windows, I'd suggest making the move to windows 7. All versions of windows are utter junk unless you axe all the fluff services and background processes in the background to really get the best of windows. Some would say it's all a matter of preference. Ultimate versions of windows tend to do some of the work for you by shutting off many of the garbage services within the installation and also including alot of extra features. If you're purely a home user, Home Premium would probably suit you best. If you need Remote Desktop, Encryption for your hard drive contents, etc., then Ultimate would suit you.

Windows Vista is the worst OS ever. So everything that is from Vista to whatever is a good move.
