Default Playing MP4 & avi format.... - 07-19-2010, 02:47 PM

Hey, I need some help with my player... My problem here is:

If I were to play a movie/anime in avi or mp4 format that is 400mb or more than it'll start lagging...

However, I can play my mkv files as big as 25GB smoothly without a single lag or anything else.

I use DivX HD codecs for my mkv files but for avi it uses the default that is the ffd show... and the mp4 uses DivX Pro as well....

Is it possible to tweak my player without affecting my mkv format because the last round I tweak it... it affected my mkv settings... Or is there other codecs that is better for avi and mp4?

Im not sure whether you need to know this but all three formats uses ffd audio and mp4 uses haali media.... Btw Im using CCCP

i know i should never utter these words (or i wish i never would) but i recently found out that windows media player on win 7 can play huge files in 1080p without any problem. VLC, Bsplayer and also Media player classic lags after a certain amount of file size.
I hate windows media player with a passion but if it works then i am happy.

^ i've had same experience with my old computer. WMP somehow worked better than MPC with big 720p files.

Don't yell at me for this but Ive always used WMP with k-light codecs and never really had any problems. It cant play bluray disks though.

I do not know if i should praise or despise WMP now. Give it time it I will find a reason to hate it once again. Sorry I have no more suggestions for your original problem. Maybe that is what we get for free codecs

Sorry since this doesn't relate to your problem in the way that you want. But have you considered getting a HD media player for your tv?

Low end and decent ones are relatively inexpensive. You can get a low end one that you may need to do conversions a bit for about $30. Mine which is an asus O!play cost around $80. (Depending on who you get it from the shipping should be free.). The great thing about them is the ability to just play things off a thumb drive or external HD. I think the O!play is getting support for an external dvd/bluray player attachment but I am not 100% sure. But I do think they are a good investment if you dl a lot of anime/movies/shows.

Oh... I do have a media player outside in my living room with my 50' plasma tv but i prefer sitting in my own room and watching it... But I guess no matter how much I may hate WMP it is working much much smoother than MPC for mp4 and avi... that's a little sad...
