can some one tell me how to use/open and Ass. file ive got the seperate vid and Ass. file but i dont get how to join them together (or whatever) to make the subs appear/work on the video

what type of video are you working with?
you could use virtualdub to hard encode the subs to the file. you'll need the plugin for virtualdub, called textsub (or vsfilter). let me know what format video you're working with.... EDIT: or yeah... you could do what he said above LOL. if its just for watching purposes, that's pretty much it. i was all thinking of it from a typesetting perspective haha |

Most players are able to subtitle files with the video. You just need to make sure it's timed properly etc.
If it's a bother to have two files. Use mkvmerge or similar. 1. Add video file 2. Add subtitle track 3. Click merge 4. ??? 5. Profit |
