im trying to watch evangelion 2.2 the 1080 version but keeps lagging my laptops a vista home (bought in 2008) is there any codec or something to make it play better (already got community codecs 2009) or should i just not dl 1080p vids in future

Give it plenty of ventilation. It's too hot. I face that problem with Blu Rays too. A fan blowing it should be enough. =x

You could get the latest Combined Community Codec Pack BETA here: http://www.cccp-project.net/beta/Com...2010-05-21.exe

Open your the movie in Media player classic.
Press O (this should open the options)
Go to Internal Filters and look under Transform Filters for H264/AVC (DXVA) and H264/AVC (FFmpeg).
Check those 2!!
Press Apply, afterwards OK.
Close the player and now open/play your movie in the player again.

If you still can't play it, try closing programs that are busy in the background.
And if you're still unable to play it good after all that, then I suggest you get a better pc or watch a lower quality version of the movie.

Stop making sense. It's common knowledge not to read other threads or stickies.

CCCP and CoreAVC and you're good to go. If it's still lagging then a new pc is what you need.

Lol CoreAVC...
Tsk you people forget to mention that CoreAVC might take less cpu power, but it is also lower quality. And then you're even gonna skip the deblocking and such, which will lower the quality even more.

If you're gonna do it like that, you're better off doing it my method (yeah it also drops quality a bit) or just download a lower quality one.


Anyway choose what you want to do, I'm not gonna discuss this any longer.
