Default Dowloading Stuff to DVD-R - 02-08-2012, 08:56 PM

Hello All. I've been trying for a while to download anime to DVD-Rs to watch at home on my DVD player. But am SO computer illiterate. I've been told "The blank DVDs you have bought are all low quality. You need to download the free program ImgBurn and ONLY use it and no other program for burning. And burn those crappy discs at lower speeds such as 4x or lower for the best chance of success. The only good media available in the USA any more is either Verbatim (NOT the "Life" series of crap discs that physical stores like Best Buy sell) and Taiyo Yuden. You'll need to order online from sellers like Supermediastore.com or Rima.com to get the good discs." So can anyone help me out? Here's what I have: The type of DVDs I have are Fujifilm (-R,+R), Maxell (-R), Memorex (-R), and TDK (DVD+R, RW, -R). The comp I'm using is a DELL Optiplex with Windows Vista Basic and a multi recorder. Also when I put the discs into the drive it says "no drive in disc or media not ready". Any help is a appreciated. Plaese also be VERY specific or give clear instructions. As if talking to a child. I am that new at this. Also does anyone know how to break any video I download into chapters, Like real anime. (Intro song, part 1, etc). And also how to maximize storage on disc. I have received discs with up to 13 eps on it from Ebay on DVD-R discs. So I can have more than one episode or movie on disc. Thank you.

So Sorry for the extra long post and if this is against the rules or goes in another section tell me.

If you want to burn the anime you already have on your computer to DVD/DVD's, simply use a program called ConvertXtoDVD. Just drag your anime there and it converts and burns it to a DVD to watch on your media player. You can choose menus and all that good stuff. Keep in mind there's a limit to how many files you can fit on a disc. It will give you a little warning when you put too many. Its very user friendly. Also, their site has tutorials and a forum for asking help.

Now, about which DVD brand to use, Verbatim and Sony are the one's I use nowadays. Memorex used to be a good brand, but not anymore.

As to why your driver gives you an error, I can't really help you with that. I suggest a Google search. There could be a number of reasons for that...

Thanx everyone for the feedback and suggestions. I've never downloaded anime or anything so hopefully everything will work out. If not I'll just ask or go to the FAQ. Wish me luck.

hmmm considering you do all that converting. to regular dvd. i dont think its worth time and effort. if you don thave a high end processor. each epsiuode can take 20 mins to convert then the burnin processes. If you have a blue ray player supports divx it should play all mkv etc. with no hitch. just make image disk. And imgburn is really simple to use.

oh yeah dont have to use imgburn either. You can just pop the dvdr into dvd burner and go to computer and drop all the files onto dvd/cd drive that you download it. itll be like udf format which means you can write on the disk anytime. just cannot delete on it.

Instead of converting i think first u need to know what formats ur DVD player can play.

hmm, i'm trying for the same thing, and I've never heard of those disc types. I've got wal-mart to buy from, so that's it><. I'm able to have my lfash drive connect to my blu-ray player, so i'll just convert, check it, convert, check it, till it works.

So, thx for the programs^^
