Default Recommend me a good smartphone - 01-21-2012, 02:11 AM

Been using iPhone 3GS for quite a while now and I think its time to change my smartphone to something new. I haven't done a research enough and was being lazy, so I'm just posting a thread here to get some recommendations.

First of all, I'm not an apple fan and I just happened to buy an iPhone few years ago because it was basically a trend back than. In fact, I lost my interest in phone ever since I got an iPhone, so any recommendation will be fine. Though I would like to get something other than apple product.

Also, these are the things that I want the most from my new smartphone at least:
- Good signal and battery life
- Responsive touch pad (so no laggy touch, you know what I mean)
- Apps (such as watching youtube and such etc...)

With this in mind, I've done a little research and found couple of phones that intrigued me and those were:
- Samsung Galaxy S2/Nexus
- Nokia N9
I'm not saying that these are my "favorite" phones but it caught my attention.

Anyway, if possible, I would like to get a recommendation of new smartphone that I'm about to get. Please consider my preferences and feel free to leave any suggestions.
Moreover, this might be important but, I do not want something that is not even out yet. In other words, I want something that is out already or has been released recently.

Thanks guys, your help would be appreciated it.

I have the G2x from idk lol.. its really good for everything but i heard alot of good reviews about the Samsung Galaxy S2/Nexus. I dont suggest Nokia phones until they start using Android but thats just me.
Edit: just read some reviews in the Nokia N9 and it looks really good. heres a link to a useful comparison site [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Somehow I knew it was you choco before I opened the thread.
Fifteen years ago this was a lot easier question to answer. Back then you had your choice of the Motorola StarTac and everything else. Now there are just to many really great phones to say "this is the everybody wants".

I think it will be much easier for you to choose a phone by the features it provides. I'm not taking about apps. Most apps are universal to most of the smart phones on the market.

Another factor is the OS. Personally I would go with and Android phone. Then look at the features from there. Also (though this may seem obvious, many overlook this aspect), how does the phone feel in your hand when your using it. And of course how does it handle games. Your not going to be carrying around your PS Vita where ever you go.

I thought so... picking a phone from back in 2000 is way different to now.

Features you say... to tell you the truth, I'm not interested in any "new" features though yeah it might be useful to me for my daily life.
As for the OS, I'm planning to go for Android. From the experience, iOS was alright however I'm just fed up with it that I need something new.

Well it was my original intention to carry around my PSV though yeah, I guess you can't carry them around wherever you go. As for the grip and feel of the actual phone, I'll just have go to local dealer and check them out first hand.

Hmm maybe I should of not posted this. Probably pointless to ask people about something that I have to choose by myself.

Than again, I'm lazy and too tired to do anything, and I don't even use my phone that much so...

well im currently using a HTC HD7. Its a smartphone with Windows 7.5 and the touch screen is great. I liked it better than my iphone i used to have. I actually sold my Iphone to get this phone. It has 16GB storage space so you have a lot of room for music and movies. It works well with xbox live, netflix, and the zune software. Thanks to this phone i will never go back to an Iphone.

Yeah I want myself a smartphone too. But without all the spy stuff. I dont want them to be able to connect my cellphone to my facebook, youtube, google and hotmail accounts. Not good. Maybe I should just not buy one. That way I'm safer.

I have a galaxy S2, which I bought to replace my iPhone 3GS, so I probably had many similar questions to you. What specifically would you like to know about it?

Just wondering what is the difference between S2 and Nexus?

Also, by comparing with 3GS, was there any improvements? like for example how is the touch feel etc?
