Never had such a problem, I know some vids wont play on my linux so I have to go into my windows to play it. Ya I roll with all three OS's, triple boot, compatibility is not an issue. usually when MPC fails I go to VLC but since that failed too, idk. Are you sure the file is not corrupt?

Download and install the latest version of CCCP, I don't know of any fansubbing group using a codec that CCCP doesn't support.

Edit: As a side note, the error switching to Win 7 basic means you're using an outdated program that isn't compatible with Windows Aero and has nothing to do with the video file.

Try using Potplayer. I love it. Personally can't stand MPC, maybe if I had a better comp MPC would be nice.

Also, VLC is really an outdated player.

Its not a player problem, its a codec problem, hence my suggestion about CCCP.

LoL as conduit said the problem is not with your player it actually with your codecs since the fact that most of the fansubbers have switched to 10bit color schemes so the old players cannot play the video files hense u should download the latest cccp codecs and also u can download nightly builds for vlc both can play 10bit but nightly builds is still in progress so u'll have to download them regularly

Link for nightly builds

Could be possible that it's still a codec problem, but if he uninstalled and reinstalled correctly I don't think it would be.

Try uninstalling and running Insurgent. Delete any useless codecs and reinstall cccp. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If you're still having issues, or if you really just don't want to deal with it, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Install it, then download and install the update at the bottom of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Enjoy.

1 - you won't be getting anywhere if you refuse to reply to the folks who are trying to help you. how the heck could we know whether you still need help or not? when someone gives you a tip, you're supposed to try it and then report your result... that's a given you know...

2 - your problem is either in the output renderer or the ffdshow color scheme... but first we need you to tell us what happened with you so far. do you still need help?

12-27-2011 11:36 AM <<~~ I don't think (s)he has read any replies.

A "normal" solution might be:

1. Check file for error using AnimeChecker or any similar program.
2. If error found, use uTorrent to fix it (downloading and replacing error parts) or download the whole file again from a different link or via torrent [recommend].
3. If errors occur with some other files then update or reinstall codecs/mediaplayer.
4. Use some different programs. UMPlayer|SMPlayer|SMPlayer2 is recommended as they are more stable (and multi-platform).
5. Report your result and what happened.

Do step 5 please.
After that we will know|find out the problems.
