So I downloaded cccp with media player classic home cinema and my mkv files do not play at all the program was talking some crap about directx not being installed I have a windows xp can anyone help me?
"There were 3 sisters, and, a man might ride for days and never set eyes upon such maidens. Marie, tall and grave, and Blanche, petite and gay, and the dark Agnes, eyes that went through you like a waxed arrow. I stayed there as long as four days, and was betrothed to them all; for it seemed shame to set one above her sisters, and might make ill blood in the family. Yet, for all my care, things were not merry in the house, and I thought it well to come away."
I really don't know they said I needed direct x 10 but the thing is direct x is compatible with vista and windows 7 only i have xp but mkv really does not work it plays but wont show subs and the picture lags sometimes.
My advice is to google "update directx" and follow the directions. Then try MPC again and see if the problem disappears. If the developers went to the trouble of programming in a helpful error message, then you should not ignore it.

My other bit of advice is to solve your problem rather than trying something different. If there is something wrong with the directx environment on your PC, then you will save yourself a lot of problems if you fix it.

Did micro actually release a version of directx 10 for XP? I know that they tried killing XP with that tactic, and ended up killing several of their release title games.
My main audio/video/webm player is Jetaudio, coupled with cccp's latest update, I have yet to experience any problems.

Hmmm. Did some digging (which I wish Justin would learn to do for himself - hint, hint) and found this cccp faq:

This makes me wonder if your xp is up to sp2 standard. I assumed it was. If not, why not?
I also found this at the same link:
"The installer told me I don't have some D3DX DLL files. What does that mean?
You must be running Windows Vista or above, and don't have the DirectX End-User Runtime installed. The DirectX 'EUR' installs some files required by MPC-HC to fully utilise the EVR-CP video renderer. Download the DirectX EUR from microsoft.com here.
If you don't have these files and proceed with the installation, CCCP will use the (usually) inferior VMR7 video renderer instead of EVR-CP with MPC-HC. We recommend you cancel the installation and install the DirectX EUR."
Did you get this message when you installed CCCP?

Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) and install: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Even on windows 7 w. DX11, it will install a lot of file 'cause its DX11 lacks a lot of .dll from DX 9.0
