Default Windows Explorer Crashes - 08-31-2011, 02:36 AM

It may be just a problem w/ my own PC but...

[NicoNico] Videos are crashing my windows explorer when I select these items from my library...

Does anyone have the similar problem?

If anyone knows something please help me...

What kind of crash? Locks up? Error message? Also, name a particular vid that does this, so I can look at the scenario.

"There were 3 sisters, and, a man might ride for days and never set eyes upon such maidens. Marie, tall and grave, and Blanche, petite and gay, and the dark Agnes, eyes that went through you like a waxed arrow. I stayed there as long as four days, and was betrothed to them all; for it seemed shame to set one above her sisters, and might make ill blood in the family. Yet, for all my care, things were not merry in the house, and I thought it well to come away."

It's a codec problem. One of the videos is causing explorer to crash. You either need to find that video and delete it or try installing something like k-lite codec.

It probably is a codec problem, what I suggest is updating your codecs. Since it is in Windows Explorer, your out of date codec is trying to make the thumbnail for the video, and thus it crashes explorer.

So completely uninstall your codec/codec pack (remove all settings for it as well), and reinstall an updated codec/pack.

Use Iobit uninstaller to uninstall and remove all traces of it: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

then install the updated codec pack I recommend Combined Community Codec Pack: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Try to see if one of your codecs/players took over generating thumbnails?

My explorer used to have problems when haali tried that.

Yes, Try installing the most recent CCCP . If you use VLC and it still crashes you try using MPC. If it still crashes your browser you should try upgrading to firefox or better yet chrome. If all else fails they're MIGHT be a problem with your system OR the video file you downloaded perhaps try re-downloading the video file.
