Default Jdownloader HELP!!! - 07-23-2011, 11:31 PM

I've been using DTA for couple of months now via FF until, I got pissed off with its downloading method and decided to use another download manager.

So I decided to use Jdownloader which, I presume, most of you are using right. However, while I downloaded it and installed it successfully without any problems, I've still don't get what to use with what etc...

I'll list the issues so you might recognize it:

- After installation, Jdownloader add-on installation (jdownff.xpi) did not even pop up in FF plugin. I clicked "Ok' to install the plugin before installing the jDownloader but it seems that I didn't even get the plugin. I checked the file (jdownff.xpi) in the folder but its not even in there.
I reinstalled jDownloader but, I still haven't got the plugin.
So I was wondering if I did anything wrong during the install procedure or is there manual way to download this plugin??
This is the link talking about the plugin: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for those who don't know what I'm talking about.

- Is FlashGot necessary for JDownloader?? its an addon for FF so I was wondering if its useful or not...

- Is there a way to remove capcha?

- Is the download speed same as your usual DD when using JDownloader?? like I know you can increase/decrease the speed but will it affect the speed?? unless you have premium acc that is...

Of course, for the first point, I can use without the plugin where I just copy the links and download etc... but it seems that the plugin does help a lot so why not use it since I'm using FF.

Anyway, I need some answers. Meanwhile, I'll use linkgrabber...

Thanks guys.

Firefox... I'm not qualified.

In windows you use JDownloaderD3D.exe to launch it. And I never launch anything (or let it be launched) unless I'm actively using it.

I no got FlashGot so I can't comment.

There's a thread, here, from a couple days ago about a 3rd party soft to do the captcha part. I don't recall the name of it but if you search threads you will find it. I also haven't tried that.

I don't really care about speed too much as I download when I'm afk or busy with making a living, etc. So I can't help much with performance. Though, I don't think that the way it works would slow anything down (unless the programmers were idiots). It's just an interface to drive the download sites' pages. If it's doing its job, then there should be no difference from you going to the site and starting a download manually.

As usual, I am a fount of wisdom. Maybe there's a crumb in here somewhere.

"There were 3 sisters, and, a man might ride for days and never set eyes upon such maidens. Marie, tall and grave, and Blanche, petite and gay, and the dark Agnes, eyes that went through you like a waxed arrow. I stayed there as long as four days, and was betrothed to them all; for it seemed shame to set one above her sisters, and might make ill blood in the family. Yet, for all my care, things were not merry in the house, and I thought it well to come away."

I don't understand why you have to add a plugin to FF to use jD. Normally you just start up jD, then whatever links you copy will be parsed into the download manager and you can then choose to download the files listed. However if you're still bend on using a plugin, you'll have to check if it's compatible with your version of FF.

If you're using filehosting websites, you'll be typing captchas anyway. The point is to make batch downloading easier since you don't have to manually enter each link in your browser.

Yes, just buy a premium account. Re-captcha for the moment doesn't have a way to be removed. Though JD can handle Megaupload's captcha.

I don't really get ur question, but for me when I download via browser the speed is slower than via JD and if I decrease the speed it'll decrease and vice versa?

No need to have FlashGot just skip that part where its ask to install it. Coz flashgot do same thing that jdownloader can do by himself alone. Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and read more. When you decide is it useful or not.

Maybe little better. Maybe. I prefer jdownloader cuz he can parse links with few clicks. Just copy and here you have your links in your program and ready for download.

I'm using 3.6.18

I guess my version is not compatible with the plugin??

If that's the case, than either I should downgrade it or just live with linkgrubber.

Don't know really... what do you think??

Oh and I've got another problem:

It seems when you download files with Japanese names, you get boxes instead of Japanese characters.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I'm not sure whether its got to do with system locale settings or its the language encode of actual program itself.

Anyone know how to solve this??
