Cool Need Some Help - Mkv Problem. - 07-11-2011, 06:18 PM

Hello there, im quite new to the Animetake website and its really awesome. So first wanted to say that.

This is my problem:

I recently started watching Fairy Tail. Thing is i watch them through avi/mp4 on my playstation. I have been able to watch the series up to 28 then all i can find is the Mkv Files. which i cannot play on my playstation.

Things i tried:

Ive tried to convert the file to avi/mp4 (the *.mkv file) and that works with good quality and all but then i loose the subtitles... very annoying xD

I tried looking up if i can stream the *.mkv files from my computer to the playstation. and that is possible.. IF you have windows 7..

Next ive tried to download it from AnimeTake but the Avi/mp4 Downloads have a bad/removed link.

So If anyone can help me to find mp4/avi of Fairy Tail with sub i would be extremely greatful. Or maybe help with my solution

**I use AVS Converter - for the people that wonder what converter i use**

PEACE

AnimeFX

PS: I still need to watch from episode 28 and up. Thought that would be handy to know.

These guys does Fairy Tail in .mp4 format. No need for you to convert anything.

Also, please use the appropriate section in the future.

As for why you don't get subs from converting .mkv, that's the whole softsub/hardsub deal which shouldn't be needed for you now.

You can try Total Video Converter, it converts .mkv to .avi without loss of subtitle. Also, you could download the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) codecs and watch the episodes on your computer.

It is possible to stream mkvs to your PS3 without the need for Windows 7. There is a nice tool called [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which basically works under Linux, Mac and Windows. For me it works fine most of the time. You might run into problems when you are using wireless network to connect to your ps3, depending on the quality of the original material. I have also had some issues with the latest version but falling back to 1.21.1 is also an option. This version so far has streamed everything fine for me.

It is rather annoying that all consoles and portable devices don't have mkv support. Most people good encoders won't encode it to avi as this is painful for their pride, it's quality is rather bad.
But, lately a lot of encoders even fail with even encoding with the h264 encoder, I even seen avi's that are 100MB smaller and have the same quality as the h264 version( I was surprised when I saw it, I never thought xvid would be able to defeat the h264 encoder).

Seems to me like everyone is missing the point. It's not like he absolutely needs to watch it using his console. The thing he's after, probably is the huge screen, the PS3 is hooked up to. I use a 40" flatscreen as a monitor for obvious reasons. You can connect your TV to your PC via HDMI or DVI or VGA. Just get the neccessary cable (or a video transmitter). You'll love it, no need to convert anything ever again. The PS3 is basically a lame computer, use the real thing instead.

If you want to easily convert Mkv files to Mp4 or avi , you can use mkvextract & meGUI programs to do so.
Using mkvextract allows you to grab out the seperate sections of the file such as audio, video, sub title tracks, etc.
Using meGUI to combine those sections and reconvert it into a MP4/AVI file.
sounds really confusing to do, but if you learn how its really easy. Heres a video that I used to teach myself how to convert it to mp4 for video editing.
