Default anybody have problems downloading from fileserve - 07-11-2011, 10:19 AM

can someone help me out? I can't seem to download anything from fileserve. everytime I try to download anything from them, the download starts for a few seconds but then I get a message that says download could not be saved because the source file could not be read. fileserve tech support just gives me the run around.

this has happened to me for the last's two weeks, i only fixed it by using jdownloader or Rdesc, not the explorer's own downloader. Hope this helps.

i have been having the same problem...I will start the download and get about 1/2 of the file and it then ends...I will have to try 2 or 3 times just to get one file...It is irritating.

I have been having problems with fileserver for the last 6months on and off but I think it mainly has something to do with my ISP and a silly filter they have for blocking some sites

it's an internnet connection problem. You probably have a lag or spike which cuts off your download, and since fileserve doesn't allow resuming, you get an incomplete download. If using a download manager works, why not just continue using it.

I had the same problem with filesonic, they don't have resume support either so I downloaded their recommended download manager to handle this issue. Check to see if fileserve has a recommended download manager that may help.

Filesonic does support resuming, at least on jDownloader.

I too have this problem with Fileserve since the past week. Whether downloading using the browser manually or using jDownloader I can't get complete downloads. Browser downloads would give the "source file can't be read" as mentioned above, while jDownloader would say "no permission to write to disk".

A search for the jDownloader error message throws up many results in the jDownloader forums but with no concrete fix. For me it's not my hdd because I can download from megaupload, filesonic, wupload, uploadstation, bitshare etc with no problems, sometimes I even download from them simultaneously. Even if I just download from fileserve by itself with no other computer or net activity (ie, start the download and go afk) it will still not complete. I would guess it's a problem with fileserve itself.

yes,it should be a fileserve problem, i still get sometimes the connection error, but not so much anymore, my only problem is that i cant use the firefox download manager, it just kills the connection after a few MB's. Hotfile, filesonic and megaupload are working properly even with the firefox manager.

I was going to put up this exact thread by this weekend.

As another person purt forward: My problems, just like yours, started to occur with fileserve downloads about 2 weeks ago (Sicka's to be exact). Frustrating as heck.

So I would love to find the way around this problem (there doesn't seem to be firm agreement about the downloaders yet).

Now here is the only extra I can give about this problem:
  • It seems to only be with NEW(er) fileserve uploaded files.
  • Because when I went to some older uploaded series I wanted to download, their fileserve files worked perfectly.
(try for yourself: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ])

Thus I believe it's something new, and recently changed in fileserve.

Hope this helps.
Meanwhile I'll have to forward this thread to Sicka. He's been getting a lot of hassle of people thinking his files are corrupt when it's actually fileserve.

Older files are affected too, at least for me. From google-crawling some seem to point the finger at Fileserve's server farms.
