Default Ehh wtf? My firewall keeps turning off... - 05-30-2011, 04:27 PM

Well this is random though I found out couple of days ago that whenever I restart/turn on my PC my firewall will always be off for some reason...

I'm talking about the Windows one and not my anti-virus firewall etc... and my OS is Windows 7 Ult.

I didn't find any suspicious virus when I scanned and nothing abnormal things happened except the fact that whenever I restart my PC, my firewall will set to off.

This is a brand new PC built like 5 month ago and really, I don't know what's causing this problem.

And also I've been told that it might got to do with the windows update?? like I did an update a week ago and it still tells me to update again...

So, is there any solution to this?? is it something serious??

Anyway thanks a lot guys

DO you have a virus scanner with a firewall? If so it could be that the virus scanner is turning the Windows firewall off in favor of its own.

If you're using the AVG firewall it's obvious the Windows firewall is off. Otherwise they will conflict with each other.

So your saying I have 2 firewalls and because one is currently on, the other has to be off since it will conflict with each other?? and vice versa??

If that's the case, than do I keep AVG firewall or do I use Windows firewall?? I mean which one is better to use??

Yeah. They will conflict with each other. Most likely anyway.

I would assume you should use the AVG firewall, that is if you're paying for it. Then again it doesn't matter as majority normally use the firewall attached to their anti-virus program. Not the Windows one.

Lol I thought the Windows one was more safer to use??

Well, like you said, it seems that a lot of people us the firewall from an anti-virus program which I think its more reliable perhaps??

Anyway, if that's the case than ill just go with AVG firewall.

Yeah you're better off with your anti-virus firewall. One should be more than enough and generally the AV Firewalls are just better as long as you keep things updated.

Then why is my avg firewall and Windows Firewall running both together
I'd never had something like that.

Hmm interesting... anyone care to explain this one??

Though, did you turned on your Windows manually or was it always on like your anti virus one??
