Problems with Portal 2

Hello everyone~!

I need a technical expert to help solve my problem on Steam's latest PC game: Portal 2.

It's an actual (legal) game which I bought from Steam and after installation I tried to run it but every time as I start a new game it always goes back to the desktop screen with a notice saying 'Portal 2 encountered a problem and needs to shut down'. I tried everything: Restarting the computer, Uninstall and reinstall, Formatting, Defragging, virus scan, authentication scan, etc. None of them worked at all.

Can anyone help please?

mine did the same thing plus a driver crash and system freeze everytime i tried to start the game but i reinstalled the game, restarted, then installed the latest NVIDIA Geforce Drivers (270.61 for me ) then restarted again. its working fine now (for me anyway) . heres the a link that might be helpful.

odd issue, i installed and played through it perfectly fine. most probably just drivers messing up, update them, update directx etc.

it works on legit portal 2, too. don't worry

I'm utilizing Nvidia graphics.

normally you get this when you dont have DX 10 or 11
