Default mkv to dvd help - 04-06-2011, 08:48 PM

looks like the site had a stroke last nite and didn't get this post but here we go again.

So I tried using Aimeer DVD Creator to put my anime on to a dvd, but this conversion made it so i could only get few eps on a disc and the quality suffered, higher storage with less quality? yeah I said screw that. So then I tried doing the demux, remux trick. Unfortunately every program i found out there doesn't support ass sub files, which most sub groups use. The only work around I found was to use a subs program which at this point I find this is getting to damn intensive for my tastes. So does anyone know of a easy way to get mkv's to a dvd to play in a player, or should i go with my plan b, just use my 35" hdtv as my monitor and use my computer lol.

update: ok I tried booyadudes guide but I'd like a bit better quality, he does mention higher quality options but doesn't elaborate, anyone know what those options are?

re-encoding an mkv container to a dvd is moot these days, best go with the plans below and leave the container alone with unhindered quality.

plan c buy a media player like western digital TV. (cheapest plan)
plan d build a home theater pc (HTPC). (best but it'll cost)
plan e with a ps3 or xbox 360 use them to play your media files.

plan c, d & e would be a cheaper alternative than plan b.

well I already have the tv for plan b so it would be my cheapest route, but the size of it when playing games was too large for me, and it's just I really want to play my anime on my parents 55in TV in our basement. I forgot about media players and it looks like that would be the best option for me, I got a PS3 but really don't feel like lugging that thing back and forth from the basement. But yeah I totally forgot about media players thanks for reminding me, and as soon as a graduate from college and find a job the HTPC will probably be my present to myself lol.
