Default Problems browsing AT on a PS3 - 02-23-2011, 08:06 PM

I'm not sure if this is just me as I haven't really been able to ask anyone who has a PS3 if they can browse AT okay. My problem is that from the forums index page I'm unable to go to a thread that has been replied to last. Not sure if it's just a problem from the index page but every time I try it just gives me a 'Page not found' error on the PS3's browser.

Note, pretty much everything else I do from day to day on the forums works fine including posting etc. (I think). It's possible it could just be me but considering the (frankly) shit broswer the PS3 has been lumbered with P.S.I'm willing to bet that could be the issue here.

If anyone could post their own experiences or maybe even offer to shed some light on this that would be great. Plus it would be extremely interesting to see what everyone else thinks of the PS3's browser.

P.S: This OP post was actually done from the PS3 too btw.

EDIT: After typing this all and trying to post this I got the 'Page not found' error again but after entering a load of mumbly jumbly for a test thread (which accidentally posted T_T) it appeared that the post *did* get posted without me knowing it went through.

surfing the internet and downloading/watching ALOT of data on your ps3 MIGHT slow your HDD and you'll need to do a format then.
keep the gaming on the PS3.
everything else on the PC.

back to topic.
probably the browser.

The site's been on and off for me the past 2 days, checked with proxies and they also said the same.

Got so fed up I asked a freind and after running a trace on the site he said a few servers seemed to be down.

Ran another trace this morning and everything was up, and the sites acting normal today so..

Maybe it's not your ps3, just the site.

Ive used my PS3 to browse on AT before and there's many things you can and cannot do while using your PS3 browser. Jak pointed some of those out and indeed AT has been down on and off the past couple days so expect errors and stuff =/

I'm mad! xD Nah but really it's just when I really don't feel like booting the PC up just to check something or broswe the forums, post etc. In such cases it can be (what I had hoped) easier to use the PS3.

Mmm, I notied AT had been done for abit lately but I experienced the problem a while ago too last time I tried to use the PS3. Honestly, why they stuck such a shit broswer on such a powerful machine is beyond me.. why not take it from Chrome which is open source under the Chromium Project?? Makes much more sense plus it would be a hell of a lot more capable. Jeez you can't even get YouTube to work at any half decent level through the PS3's broswer which is off since Sony hasn't seen fit to give it a dedicated YouTube app like some smartphones despite the fact it can handle it (iPlayer kinda proves that).

Yeah, really I never expected too much from the PS3's broswer but still, I expected it to at least be a cut above the average smartphone and yet it's barely any better than the PSP's broswer..
