Default Using NERO 10 to compress MKV - 12-15-2010, 07:40 AM

Hello all,

I recently purchased NERO 10 when it was super cheap online. I primarily just bought it to burn dvds and cds since I lost my burner program on my Dell computer. I noticed I can also compress videos using the NERO Recode, but for whatever reason it won't recognize MKV. Strangely the NERO Vision part of the suite will play and edit MKV's, but it doesn't compress MKV videos such as reducing a 1080 to a 720. If anyone has any experience with NERO 10 and can give me some simple advice on how to import the MKV and then compress them into smaller files so I can either upload or burn them to DVD storage. (I know the upload and burn part, just not the compress part )

Thanks in advance

Pintglass

Why don't you use MiniEncoder?
It'll compress you video files into whatever bitrate or size you want.

I don't use Minicoder myself but, if it's anything like Handbrake (anther encoding software), then make sure you watch your cpu temperature if you end up using many filters, unless you're planning to fry egg on it that is...

and if you don't know what this really means, just make sure you never use filters.
