Default Regional settings / system restore not opening. - 11-09-2010, 11:46 AM

ok, so i got win 7 ultimate, it wasnt picking up japanese/chinese/korean characters, so i tried to make it do just that, i clicked input language, and changed it to japanese, anyway, now theres just square boxes everywhere. So i want to revert it back to english, but the question is, how? when i click regional settings(i can recognise the picture), it doesnt open AT ALL, same goes for system restore.... its so retarded.... i have no idea how to fix this short of a reinstall, anyone got any suggestions?

Use a Win7 CD to do a system recovery. I think what went wrong is that your computer didn't have the east asia languages installed. It's an option that you have to choose or download off the internet depending on what version of Win7 you have. I don't know why you changed your input language, that would have changed your keyboard language from english to Japanese. I'm assuming you changed the system and unicode to japanese, in which would have stuffed up some of your programs which were designed for english unicode only. The reason you have all those square boxes is that you didn't have the Asia Language codes installed in the first place, so I dont' know why you were able the change to Japanese in the first place. Check your Win Updates, it maybe trying to download the Uni codes which may fix this problem.

hmm, i dont think i did what you're implying, i think ive found the root of the problem. I just reinstalled, but the issue was this version of windows i have is a light version that someone recoded, they removed some features here and there that i assume they deemed uneccessary. Guess il just have to put up with no Japanese text till i buy another computer and a Japanese keyboard. Thanks for the response though.
