Default Back Light On Laptop Died - 11-05-2010, 12:51 AM

Either died or somehow disconnected. The model is a Toshiba Satellite P205-S6277. Does anyone have an idea on how I can fix this?

How old is your laptop?

Your backlight is a fluorescent tube lamp driven by a high voltage inverter module, if you're lucky you might only have a broken connection at the laptop's screen hinge, but usually it's the inverter that craps out rather than the lamp itself. If your laptop is still under warranty it should be covered.

The laptop is literally one of the first laptops with Vista on it, so around 4~5 years old. Im gonna try and find a guide to take it apart and try to reconnect the connector. When i rock the screen open and closed, it sometimes brings the light back on.

Edit: SUCCESS!!!!!!!! I got it taken apart and reattached it. Works better than before even!!! (it used to flicker bad in the left bottom corner) Best part, I did it all with a small pocket knife.
