Default subs prob - 09-25-2010, 03:31 PM

And here we go with the stupid question...~.~

Well then.. The prob is only with .mkv files the subtittles are not working at all.
Didn't had that prob before only after i formated my laptop. All the other files are working normaly and what the hell... the most of my anime are with that type...

So any suggestion...? xD

thats not a lot of information.

All mkv files, or only some?

Which program are you using to play the files?

Media player classic in particular has difficulty with some types of subs. If you are using MPC, then try right clicking on a video thats playing, and select filters, then ffdshow video decoder, and make sure that subtitles are enabled there.

last but definately not least, consider using VLC to play mkv files instead.

CCCP beta, CoreAVC 2.0, and MPC.

CCCP beta is the recommended codec pack when it comes to watching anime on a PC. It also officially supports Windows 7 and CoreAVC, now.

CoreAVC 2.0 is a more efficient video decoder compared to ffdshow and actually makes use of dual cores. Make sure to get CoreAVC 2.0 and not a previous version as there are known bugs/problems with the previous versions.

MPC is normally the recommended player.

When you mentioned that your subs aren't working meaning that it ain't showing in the anime is it?

Have you tried the most basic method?
Go to Navigate>Subtitle Languages>Enable Or click on the eng sub?
or
Right click>subtitles>enable?

If that isn't working as well, then your problem maybe due to some complicated reasoning...

You can try this tutorial out... Follow this instructions and it may help with your problem.

How about,

Options > External filters.

If there's a directvobsub (Auto-loading version), then see if it is set to prefer.

If it isn't there, go to add filter and search for it. Set it to prefer and remember to click on apply. xD

I have a a dozen of retard question, hope you guys dont mind D:

This site provide most their 720 release in MKV format. [Which unfortunately cannot be edited in Vegas pro, but no problem i could just convert it to avi]. The subs is build in subtitle/softsubs, not hardsub :x]
I used Gom player to play it, but the sub wont display om gom.
Im sure if i were to use VLC with directvobsub it would be displayed.
Is there special effect within subtitles? [Openings Lyric with special effect, you know which one D:] and would those special effect appear ?
I download most 720p format for the use of OP/ED. I cut them/upload to youtube.
and my question is, would the subtitle appear on youtube player, would those special effect be affected? And when we download it from youtube in mp4 format, would the subs be unaffected?

I would like to download avi format with 720p, but most 720 are matroska :x, i wonder why they release with that format...
I have tried alot thing on join/extract sub/video/audio, but crappy outcome and errors

Oh: I can extract the subs from the mkv and convert it to srt, but is there a way where i can hardsubbed it, with the effect remain the same of course?

Nvm, I found Xvid4PSP.
The animated effect on subs is dissapearing off :x
btw Avc is not very good at this, the sub simply shows normally at the bottom of the video.
no special affect or anything.
