well, these 2 mascots follow the unwritten rules of all the mascots:

-they're ridiculous
-you would think there is like a competition to design mascots, at the end of which they choose the worst one as the winner

but I have to say that I've seen mascots worse than those two, for example the "lion without pants" for the World Cup 2006.
joking apart, Wenlock and Mandeville are funny, but... what the heck do they represent?
