That is so true, i've been at it for about 13 years now, and in tournaments since I was little... I was shoved into the sparring section by my dad and sensei without me even knowing... got my ass kicked a few times, won plenty, but it means nothing in real life fights [never been in any either]...
though it helps keep the guys in line sometimes...

FMA is the result of more than 400 years of development before and after Spanish occupation of the Philippines.

The majority of what you learn is applicable to Unarmed and Armed combat. It's a brutal style that deals with many things like:

1) Limb Destruction
2) Body Manipulation
3) Angles and Switching Leads
4) Speed, Flow, and Rhythm
5) Close Association with Weaponry

At the place I might go theres a Filipino guy who teaches Eskrima.

My former roommate's mom was a grandmaster in Eskrima and worked as a body guard for Mr. Oppenheimer. as in the Oppenheimer funds.... I thought is was a pretty cool job plus she was an extra for ninja's in some martial art films... I think it is a pretty cool system to take.. lots of sequence to it... very ergo dynamic and fluid... its great to try different styles as to enrich the one you really like... Great thread Teck! I'm all about martial arts.. I got a lot of weapons as well... Basic's first!!!

i also like rampage jackson, the most memorable ko i've seen from him was when he powerbombed the dude who was choking him, hahahaha, that was wicked! my fav ufc fighter is anderson silva yeah!^^
