Agility, or speed doesen't necessarily come from physical training, I'd say it's a mixture of reaction time and doing stretchs so as to train your body to respond faster. In any case that's my opinion.

True, true. But if I want to do flashy kicks like axe kick or just a normal high kick you need to be somewhat agile. So in that case which kind of stretching is best? Or even which kind of training can I do alone without hurting myself.

Breathing exercise is an often overlooked but very important.

If you want real application MMA fights are the only thing I can think of watching.

If you want to become more flexible and work your body at the same time yoga is great for that. My friend got something called yoga X and it looked easy but was very intense and a little meditation afterwards gives you a relaxed and peaceful feeling, at least for me.

For agility you need to do exercises like jumping rope, jumping up and down stairs, side stepping, sprinting back and forth short distances, power snatch, sqaut, high box jumps, ladder drills, anything involving moving your body quick. You can google "plyometrics" and see a bunch of other exercises.

And don't forget some reaction training a good one is to have a friend throw a tennis ball at you while u stand in front of a wall and try to dodge the ball with and without moving your feet, also try some snatching of the ball. You can also take that ball and train your eyes. Just toss the ball up as you focus on a single spot, this is to make your peripheral vision better, at first toss it low so the ball is still within your vision. Then start throwing it so it leaves your vision and comes back to it and try to catch or snatch it, throw some spin on it after you master that.

Squats for increasing leg flexibility and quickness. I suppose yoga is good but im a man and would want to be seen doing yoga lol. So i would train more towards endurance such doing body weight exercises, standard push ups and pull ups increasing till burnout. You need strength as well so that doesn't rule out doing a normal workout either.

also as tech said breathing exercises are a big thing so that usually good to practice and fairly easy while running. Most mma fights though train in higher altitudes.

also im pissed cuz Urijah Faber lost last week.

i used to do tae kwon do so the best advice i can give u when it comes round house is keep practicing. first set the height low, about the waist and do full motion round house kicks. this is so one can establish their center of balance and practice basic movements. after raise the heights you kick higher and do the same thing until you achieve desirable height.

if you are really inflexible that's probably because you're using muscles you usually don't so it stiffens up and loses mobility. I would suggest lots of leg stretching and toning exercises and reduce muscle increasing exercise since bigger bulk reduces mobility
