so I'm watching the updates on the BBC website of England playing the Ashes against Australia. First I'm dissapointed when I see that the first player out is the Captain, Strauss, after 3 balls, and with 0 runs. Thats bad, yes but I then see that England has 197 runs, for 4 players out. Thats not too bad. Then I see this:

thats 3 players going out in...oh about 4 mins. Without getting a single run. Like fucking hell England were ready to win.

Am I the only one raging here?

Because I read that post and was like, WTF? It hit his toe? Take a base? 197 runs? god dam... don't they call it after like an 8 point lead? Then I remembered Cricket is not like baseball....

If not, there certainly should be a mercy rule. Christ. I don't understand or claim to know anything about this sport, but that just seems like salting a wound to me. If that is indeed a low score, I have no idea. But a number that high just perks my interest. Do explain.

Well,the ashes sure have a flair for the dramatic!
260 ain't a bad score but it's all up to the English bowlers now...

260 isn't a bad score in general, but in the ashes, against australia.....its not good. its not unusual for the score to be in excess of 400 in the ashes, so 260 is a good effort, but ultimately not up to par.

I don't watch much cricket ...not since India lost horribly to the Aussies back in 2003..
and now I don't watch much football.. cauz Arsenal FC is ...*sigh*
so don't know if I still have the knowledge...but 260 is not bad is it?
wait it's a Test match and its the 2nd day so ..its not that great.
But still I'm on your side... GO England!

well England were all out for 260, and at the end of todays innings when it got stopped by rain, Australia were at 220-5.

so its not that 260 was bad....just nowhere near good enough.

i'm an England hater since......uh recent times. than again i'm an Aussie hater too. ...... Guess i don't care who wins the Ashes either way but i at least hope for a good contest. And yeah, against Australia, 260 is nowhere good enough. Australia got the upper hand for now.

It's still the first innings, so anything can happen, I'm not betting on England winning this series, but being a Brit I'm going to keep the faith that we won't be a complete embarressment like last time.

Hey we won the 20:20 World Cup this year, no matter what happens England can atleast say they've actuallly won something this year, we failed in Football, We suck at Tennis, we played well in our last Game in Rugby though otherwise suck...so atleast the Cricketers have something to cheer for. It's sad that from the five major sport originating from England we suck at all of them.

a friend of mine asked me what England DOES beat Australia in

I said "maybe lawn bowls". it turns out that actually an Australian player is the world number 2, and the highest rank english guy is 22.

after doing more research the only thing I can find is womens Hockey. Not the mens though.
