Post CFW On PSP - 06-23-2010, 03:49 PM

Discuss on custom firmware of any PSP version. News about custom firmware or any guide, tips or valuable information.

I have PSP 3000, motherboard still unknown( i assume it TA-093 because it cant be displayed by psp ident ), custom firmware the latest GEN-C( eventhough there are new GEN-C DT, most people said they are the same just the recovery menu fixed ), using modified chickhen R2(not the usual mod, i got this from the website that the PSP user said it usually used in store ), using fake memory stick 8gb( i got one that pretty good because it contain same amount as displayed in pc except when load gen it reduce 10 or less mb - don't remember sandisk or mark 2), firmware 5.03

From my experience, i corrupted my ms once using snes emu. Problem loading chickhen once almost 2 hours, then i got this new modified ChickHen R2 from this mistake. TA-093 have some kind anti-custom firmware bacause when i exit game ms orange light flash twice, if put in sleep in 1st flash it will shut down and flashing green power light more than 5 times( i though it gonna brick, so i checked and it just shutdown PSP. MHUspeed v3 not function in this motherboard type.I've tried alll method known in many website but still freeze and shutdown. And furthermore for PSP 2000 Ta- 088 v2 above and PSP 3000 user, don't messed up your flash memory because it will cause you permanently brick.

Sony now has upgrade their security system, so newer game has several problem in some CFW.

I'm don't know really much about psp, except updating the CFW which takes a lot of google and courage since I heard other people bricked their PSP just by updating. Been hearing about that chicken something but don't know how it really works and also I'm clueless when it comes to emulating PS games on PSP. Didn't bother trying because I'm not a risky type of person.

This thread might be useful for added info.

Well, if you're only regarding information-wise about PSP CFW, then I might as well share some knowledge on this matter (even though some might not be willing to trust me, since I haven't even had 5 posts on this website before...).

PSP 1000 works with any CFW known and possible, and is fixable if Bricked with a little item known as the "Pandora Battery."

PSP 2000 varies with each motherboard that it's equipped with, such as the stated TA-088 V1, V2, and V3.

PSP 2000 TA-088 V1, from my experience, is pretty much a PSP 1000 in disguise, but lighter and better performance, meaning the CFW applicable to it is the same as 1000.

PSP 2000 TA-088 V3 (and maybe V2) is pretty much a PSP 3000 without it's LCD screen and a slower processor. This PSP is only usable under 5.03 Gen-C, 5.03 Prometheus (A Variation of Gen-C), and other 5.03 CFW. However, it reverts back to OFW if the PSP loses power, shuts down, or the occasional "black out" (from what I call it).

PSP 3000, again, possesses 5.03 CFW and is unable to be flashed/hacked otherwise.

Both PSP 2000 (TA-088 V2+V3) and PSP 3000 are only hackable through a process used/known as an exploited TIFF image (only possible in 5.03 and is later patched), which is known as Chicken Hen R2 and MHUspeed v3 (more reliable than their predecessors).

Summary:
PSP 1000 = Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick = Permanent CFW and is able to update and downgrade CFWs

PSP 2000 TA-088 V1 = Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick = Permanent CFW and is able to update and downgrade CFWs.

PSP 2000 TA-088 V1 = OFW 5.03 + Chicken Hen R2/MHUspeed V3 = Permanent CFW and is able to update and downgrade CFWs.

PSP 2000 TA-088 V2+V3 = OFW 5.03 + Chicken Hen R2/MHUspeed V3 = Temporary CFW and is not able to update or downgrade CFWs (unless you want a brick for a PSP).

PSP 3000 = OFW 5.03 + Chicken Hen R2/MHUspeed V3 = Temporary CFW and is not able to update or downgrade CFWs (unless you want a brick for a PSP).

*Temporary CFW = Once the said PSP is "Powered Off," Suffers from a glitch in the CFW, or Battery dies (All of these point toward the PSP being completely off), the PSP reverts back to it's 5.03 OFW. So, keep Chicken Hen R2 or MHUspeed V3 in your memory stick!.

Isn't it only certain V2s?

I have a Madden Blue PSP, and it's 100% hackable.

Yup TA-088 v2 some hackable and some not. Use pandora battery to check. It's weird that why sony has release psp go then upgrade PSP 3000 motherboard to TA-093 that is still unknown???

I read few forum said there will be ChickHen R3 to be release but dunno when. It fix the vsh and recovery menu and have nandy guard that protect user from bricking their psp( good news ). But still no news on new CFW.

PSP 2000, 5.50 Gen-* (Don't remember the version, and too lazy to open it)
With a battery Extended Life 2200mAh (I get 7-8 hours of gameplay).

It's been hard to go to custom firmware, I used the 1200mAh battery, open it and cut a line to create a pandora battery.

PSP 1000 5.50 Prometheus. (Patched it from the gen-d3 final. Lets you play 6.2 firmware games without patching)

What do you mean application test? Or do you mean to test specific ones? If you mean that which ones?

Typically the only apps I use on mine are emulators.
