Default My "new" PSVita... the "old" one can suck my $#@$ - 01-03-2012, 03:59 AM

I don't know if the admin will create a PSVita section but in a meantime, I will post it here. Feel free to move my thread if you need to.

Anyway. Just uploaded a video of my "new" PSVita as a response to my other video.

I didn't prepare anything so please excuse my noobie video.

Anyway, for those who is interested here's what happened.

While I was in Japan, on 17th of December, I bought the "old" PS Vita via Amazon and when I got it, it was a defected item where I couldn't turn on the power. I was one of those unlucky people who bought a fail item. Moreover, I was leaving Japan the next day (18th) so there is no way I could of got a replacement straight away.

So now I've returned to Australia (Returned at 19th), I contacted the Amazon and they say they will send a replacement. However, apparently they won't ship the item outside Japan so I had to find a forwarding service in Japan who will ship the item to Australia. As a result I found one but, because PS Vita contains lithium ion battery, according to Japanese law they won't allow to ship it via EMS. So the only way to ship it is by UPS service and the cost of the fee was x6 of EMS fee. That is fucked up yes, but I didn't have any choice.

After long waiting, I've received it just today and yeah... as you can see in the video I have my "new" PSVita... I have to send the "old" one back to Japan asap as well.

Finally, I'm happy that I got my "new" PSVita and its actually working though there is a downside, which is I have to pay shipping + handling costs for both receiving and sending... and it wasn't cheap -_-;;
Just imagine if my "new" PSVita have a same problem as well... god I can't imagine the agony I will face when that happens.

Lets just hope that there won't be ANY problem in future because if there is one, than I can't imagine the mess I will be in... Since I don't live in Japan there is a lot of disadvantages. Maybe I should of waited for a release in Australia? but I was greedy so...

Oh and on the side note, I have some hard copies of UMDs and since PSVita supports playing PSP games is there way to do so? or is it only possible by buying the game via PS Store?

I think I said it wrong but what I mean is some of the PSP titles can be played on vita. What I want to know is those who owns a physical UMD copy, is there a way to play it on vita if it supports it?

after seeing this thread i looked up the psvita..what i saw is that they will have a UMD Passport app basically you download it then you put your umd then it scans your umd for legit stuff then makes it into a digital copy type..then you go to your psvita then i think you download it from your account..problem is that you need to pay like about 500-1500 yen or about $7-20 they said..this is only in japan idk about in other place if they will consider this yet though kinda messes up that fact you need to pay for a game you already own + not all UMD can be ported Games from Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, and Sega are all confirmed as appearing

here's the link i saw:

Thank you very much for the info. I actually found the site just now. Yes you have to pay additional fees which, I don't know why they implement this system... the highest I saw was 3000~4000 yen which you can pretty much buy a whole game.

I think I should just stick with vita games... paying additional fees to play PSP games, nah

Or lets just hope that someone will create custom firmwares or something similar...

More titles are lining up for vita so check it out.

As for PSP titles, it all comes down to you:
- Do you really love playing that PSP game and you want to try it on vita with better graphics and new mechanics?
- Are you willing to pay extra fees?
- Do you have enough space in your memory card to fit all your games

I'll say it again but I wish I bought 16GB but damn those sold out on first day of the launch...
