Default Homefront - Fail of the year? - 03-24-2011, 10:27 AM

So anyone playing this game? Loads of peeps were hyped up over it but my dear lord that game is the biggest disaster of the year! I'm so glad I decided to download it before buying it (which was my intention at first because I liked the plot).

Graphics, horrible, gameplay, slow and unrealistic. Weapons feel cheap, graphics look like a game from 2001 and above all it's so damn slow. I've never seen a soldier run SO damn slow that I couldn't get away from thrown nades. A nade-icon the size of an ant pops up somewhere random on the screen and there's like 5 seconds between pressing shift and running and then you run like you're carrying 200 kilo's of ammunition xD. Then there's the plot, the plot was actually exciting and kind of good (although the Korea DPR taking over the world seemed a little off cuz they couldn't use China) but they worked it horribly. It started quite good but then everything went into a massive, unrealistic timestream that ended with the worst ending I've seen in a long time :/

Ok, enough rage, anyone agree with any of this... or am I just putting the bar way to high for games here?

Yeah.A subpar generic shooter.Save your money or if you want to dish out some dough on any game, make it Dragon Age2 or Shogun 2.

Dragon Age 2 isn't THAT good either. Certainly nowhere near DA1. It's just a small step to crossover from DA1 to a bigger plot in DA3... It's the most linear RPG I've seen.

Excuse me but I'll have to strongly disagree with you on that.Dragon Age 2 is a great game, granted it's not as good as Origins which has to be one of the best tactical role playing game ever made.

Bioware tried something new with DA2,taking many aspects of what people liked in ME2 and incorporating it into DA2 but it didn't quite work out.
It's still more than a decent game, but by Bioware standards it's one of their worst.
The worst of Bioware is better than most company's best.

Also, the most linear RPG you've ever played?Seriously?Did we even play the same game?Sure the ending is more or less set in stone but the evolution of Hawke's character and his relationship with various characters is ever-changing,add to that the implications of his actions spanning almost a whole decade with varying consequences is more than enough non-linearity for me.That or you haven't played many RPG's.

Well let's not drag this on since this is a thread on homefront but if you say by Bioware's standards it's one of their worst, that answers enough. As good a game as it may be (I do think it's good) it just doesn't live up to what everyone expected from it. I guess that goes for more games such as Crysis 2, Homefront, DA2 but also a little for Shogun 2. I think that's also one of the games that kind of disappointed me. Don't get me wrong, it's also a great game but it just lacks the effect where I get drawn in and can't stop playing it like I had with Medieval II. <--- maybe I should add Black Ops to that list as well xD?

^Ah,don't mind me.I'm just a devout Bioware fanboy leaping to it's defense

DA2,hell even Shogun 2 maybe disappointing sequels but they are decent games in their own right whereas Homefront is downright appalling. When it comes down to having to chose between them and Homefront,I'd recommend ruling out Homefront entirely.

Is it worth to play pirated? Or not even that?

I'd say, don't bother unless you really have a lot of time to spend. The Pirategay release has just the SP which is like 2.8GB so if you want to download, just use that. Don't forget to download the ammo & sound fix crack as well though...
