Default Anybody addicted to Civ V? - 10-17-2010, 11:18 PM

I bought the Collector's edition when it came out and has been playing it since then. This game is addicting like heck!

But this game has a lot of bugs and they are slowly getting on my nerves. Fireaxis is going to bring out a patch soon, hopefully that will help...

It caught me by surprise as well when it was released, i thought it was coming later (or I lost track of time playing something else...). Fortunately I had pre-purchased it on steam so just had to wait for it to download. What I found with Civ 4 was I would start a game, play for a couple hours then go do something else - next time I would just start a new game and forget about the last one. The achievements in 5 help fight that urge, not to mention they've improved or changed a lot of the details in the gameplay.

The hex system is a great idea for troop movement along with no more stacking, though it took a while to get my head around the max city-work-area. the addition of ranged units makes it more realistic, with artillery supporting the frontline and aircraft actually earning xp properly for raids. the removal of dedicated transports in favour of all units being able to embark defintely helps in the archipelago maps and for exploring round hostile culture.

What I like the most is the addition of city-states, to aid you or just hinder the other civs. they make the game a little more involving for me.

So far only the culture victory has eluded me. I was aiming for the ghandi achievement (culture victory with 3 or less cities) but i hit the time victory just beforehand. very annoyed...

I'm sorry to hear that you have the attention span of a goldfish, but this isn't a thread asking about your opinion of the game, so kindly GTFO.

...it isn't? What is this thread about then? Because it seems to be asking a question.

Thread is for fans of the game, not for newfags with ADD. ^_^

Great game. The changes of some of the game play such as combat and the addition of city-states makes this game unique from its predecessors, although like all Civilization games the "One more turn" syndrome is still there. Although I find the more aggressive a.i. in this one to be more annoying.
