Moretsu Uchuu Kaizoku

The story centers around a spirited high school girl named Marika. She keeps herself busy with the space yacht club and her part-time job at a high-class retro café. One day, two men suddenly appear and claim to be subordinates of her dead father. They demand that she assume command of the space pirate ship Benten Maru. A privateer ship's compact was made during a war of independence a century ago, and according to that compact, the ship must be inherited by the captain's next direct descendant. Marika finds herself embarking on a new life as a space pirate.

Bodacious Space Pirates PV1

Seems more like a Shounen-Shoujo mix. Its shounen 'cause its adventurous and its Shoujo because of the character designs, which by the way, reminds me of Shugo Chara. Weird anime.

& Boy the advance technology they have makes me jelly. I want a house lock like that.

Just finished watching Space Pirates and here's my take:

About 70% of the cast and crew are females. I just can't buy that these sugary girls are pirates.

There's a lot of goodwill here (except for that pirate woman's "mourning" clothes) and the lead is so far likeable not to mention top production values.Unless I see some real juicy bait and a promising premise minus the cheesiness, I'm not investing much here.

Btw, so far my most favorite pirate themed venture was the Disney's animated movie The Treasure Planet, which I watched long ago getting teary eyed at the end.

Actually it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. No idea what legal pirates do, but I'm definitely interested in the series.
