To be honest, I hardly remember the PSX era, was a bit young.

FF 7 there i said it yea am a fan boi so wat but i also did played the rest of the ff series, vagrant story, chrono cross, chrono trigger, mushashi legends, these r wat comes to mind when i think of my ps 1 childhood sorry i had more but their names escape me atm

Parasite Eve 1 (PE1) was the best. It was one of the first survival/horror RPGs and I highly recommend this game.
PE2 was also very good, but they changed the control scheme which made me enjoy it a bit less.
