I liked it because it had everything going for it. Characters, story and action were all great. Notice the "liked" I used there. I dropped this over a year ago and have never looked back as I can guess whats still going on now was what was going on back then its just that naruto now has 1 or 2 new moves in his pathetic little bag of tricks, sasuke is even more annoying and emo and pretty much everyone else is utterly pointless until they get a single fight designed specifically for them to win in order to boost a characters dwindling ratings. The Dues Ex Machina scheme just fucking fails afters its used 300 times in a single series.

I like Naruto because of the story, epic fights (read: naruto vs pain), characters, and sad/great scenes (such as the hinata one you referred to, and the part where naruto is acknowledged as a hero by konoha)
