I have the complete 8 disc ost, it's 1gb in size. I haven't given it too much time (yet) since there's like 30 tracks per disc, but it's got every music track in the entire anime. All I've really done is quickly go through them while searching for that "kyoko" song... which is #8 on disc 2. It's crazy how that one music track makes you think of how great the series was...

I suspected that oav would suck... which is why I didn't bother getting it. There's one other oav, though I can't think of the title, which isn't bad. It's not good, but it doesn't suck... and since it's about everyone being stranded on an island, you at least get to see akemi and kyoko in swimsuits. I figured it was just some type of filler that came out a few years after the series ended, but it's actually an issue in the manga. Oddly, in the oav, kyoko wears a conservative one piece swimsuit... but in the manga it's a much more sexy two piece. Idk why they changed it for the anime...

Also, I've been rewatching scenes every single day since I finished the series. I really can't get enough of it. I think I've watched "the scene" in episode 52 like a dozen times.

Also, the main thing that kept kyoko from realizing her true feelings was her attachment with soichiro. It took years before she was able to move on in life. And it was in episode 52 at his grave that she started to realize that her memories of soichiro were slowly being replaced by thoughts of other people (as in godai) and it made her feel guilty, like as if she was cheating on him.

I don't think kyoko ever truly had feelings for mitaka. Even early in the series, when she was with him, she'd be thinking about godai. The one person that could have spoiled everything for godai is that old guy that reminded her of soichiro.

So now it's like... what's next? Every comedy/romance series I watch from now on will be compared with maison ikkoku. I just can't imagine any other female character matching the depth and realism of kyoko.

The last name of all the tenants are puns associated with the room they live in. For example, Ichinose lives in room #1... "ichi" means "one." Also, I was peeking through some of the manga and saw the scene where kozue cries to godai about accepting the marriage proposal even though godai "proposed" to her. That happens in maison ikkoku instead of at the chachamaru.

I also saw an issue of the manga where kyoko and akemi are wearing gymnastics leotards... while godai and yotsuya are looking through a peephole.

What also needs to be mentioned is how absolutely perfect kyoko's reply was to godai's proposal. It revealed everything about her as a person and verified that she clung to her memories of soichiro because she was scared of being alone.

That "through the seasons" oav is just a compilation entirely made up of scenes from the series. I'm not sure where you can find it... I briefly looked for it but only found a couple torrents that had 0 seeds.

The movie actually takes place in the middle of the last episode. Basically right where the commercial break is. It wasn't anything great, but was still entertaining. It was worth watching just to see akemi's outfit. She kinda stole the spotlight in the movie as well. The new tenant was an odd addition though...

I downloaded the manga and am considering reading it. There's a lot of content not in the anime and some rather large differences... such as the empty rooms at the maison ikkoku. They're not vacant the entire time in the manga. In fact, I read that the occupants are Asuna, Yagami, and Kozue. Yes, you're seeing that correctly.

Ah yes, maison ikkoku is the pinnacle of comedy/romance anime. I mean seriously, factoring all aspects of a romance series, nothing else can match maison ikkoku. As much of a douche that godai is, you still cheer for him. And kyoko... well, she's just the best.

I loved the exchange between them in the scene you posted pics for. This was one of my other favorite kyoko facial expression "conversations":

Perhaps, but I already made a commitment to HnG which is like 50+ eps. That's gonna take me forever to watch, plus the second season. If i switch now I may never watch HnG again...

And watching both at the same time is not an option, I simply can't do it

When I read the first review on that series a while back I had a hunch it was good. A quick Google search on it sealed the deal. After I finish Hayate no Gotoku Ill get on it
